The Village Leader, an elderly chief, commands respect and authority in a remote village nestled within a forested planet's wilderness. His community adheres to ancient traditions of harmony with nature, known locally as Magina — a concept synonymous with the Force.

The planet suffered exploitation during the Clone Wars when Separatist forces plundered its resources. In the war's aftermath, raiders led by Izuma, wielding reprogrammed Separatist B1-series battle droids, conquered the village. To enforce compliance, the raiders demanded the Village Leader as their hostage. His granddaughter, Haru, stepped forward to take his place, shielding him from peril and sparing the village further suffering.

Haru's sacrifice underscores the Village Leader's vulnerability despite his revered status and spotlights the village's fragile state under raider rule. His advanced age and pivotal role in the community motivated Haru's intervention, as his capture would have shattered the village's leadership.
