TV-Series
Description
Izumi Tachibana is a student at Rikkyoin High School within the narrative of Kujibiki Unbalance, where she is selected to serve as the student council secretary through the school's lottery system. Her appearance is characterized by black hair cut to neck-length and pink eyes, and she is often seen wearing goggles, which become a notable part of her image and are said to be worn when she is taking a situation seriously.

Her background is deeply entwined with the world of gambling and organized crime. Implicitly connected to the yakuza, Izumi's father is a genius gambler, and she follows in his footsteps as a highly skilled player in her own right, particularly renowned for her talent in mahjong. He is missing, and Izumi acts as a gambling agent for an organization, engaging in high-stakes games on their behalf in a bid to locate her father. She is proud and fiercely independent, disliking the idea of appearing weak or vulnerable, which leads her to avoid letting others into her home or see her struggles.

In the television anime adaptation, Izumi is introduced as an agent for an opposing faction, serving as a spy within the school. Her skills are described as being quite high, and she is capable in combat, even known to fight using mahjong tiles. The student council, suspecting her true nature, springs a trap to expose her. During the confrontation, Izumi attempts to escape by taking her classmate Tokino Akiyama hostage.

This event marks a major turning point in her role within the story. Tokino, despite the danger, expresses steadfast trust in Izumi, which profoundly affects her. Intercepted by the current student council vice-president, Kasumi Kisaragi, Izumi is given a choice. Through negotiation, she is recruited to become a double agent, working as a bodyguard for the next student council and acting as a spy for them instead. This decision fundamentally shifts her trajectory from an enemy operative to an ally. Akiyama Tokino is a key figure in her life; Izumi harbors a small crush on her, and it is Tokino’s influence that ultimately prevents Izumi from trying to escape or harm herself, leading to her change of heart. She also has a significant debt of gratitude toward Kasumi Kisaragi, who intervened during the hostage crisis, and shares a combative, unfriendly relationship with Komaki Asagiri.
