TV-Series
Description
Ibuki Shikimori is a young girl who enters the story as a transfer student at the academy. She is notably small in stature, standing at 145cm, and possesses a pale, slim build. Her most distinctive physical features are her very long, straight white hair and sharp red eyes. She is often seen carrying her magical wand, Bisaim, which is disguised as an umbrella.

A powerful mage from a family renowned for its magical prowess, Ibuki demonstrates considerable skill at a young age. The Kamijou family has served the Shikimori family for generations, which is why Saya and Shinya Kamijou are almost always by Ibuki's side, acting as her protectors and devoted followers. Initially, she is a classmate of Sumomo Kohinata, the younger sister of the protagonist Yuma Kohinata.

At the beginning of her time at the academy, Ibuki is characterized by a very standoffish and unfriendly demeanor. She pushes people away, both figuratively through her cold attitude and literally, preferring to be left alone. This behavior is driven by her secretive and antisocial personality, which masks a deeper, grief-stricken motivation. Her primary goal is to retrieve the Shikimori treasure, a powerful artifact, because she believes it will allow her to see her deceased older sister, Natsumi. Natsumi died while using the treasure to seal away the angels or demons that emerged from it. In her quest, Ibuki mistakenly believes that the skilled mage Haruhi Kamisaka is the daughter of the woman who stole and hid the treasure, creating initial conflict between them.

Ibuki's role in the story is closely tied to this central conflict surrounding the Shikimori treasure. Her arrival at the school and her mysterious, hostile behavior drive a significant portion of the plot in the second half of the series. She takes Yuma captive during the school festival to force Haruhi to reveal the secret to breaking the barrier around Shikimori Forest, where the treasure is located. A key event from her past, a fight between Haruhi and Ibuki, results in a spell affecting Sumomo, leaving her unconscious and revealing the deeper connections between the characters' histories and the death of Ibuki's sister.

Despite her initial hostility, Ibuki undergoes notable development, largely due to the persistent kindness of her classmates. In an episode explicitly titled Be Friends with Ibuki Plan, Haruhi and her friends devise various activities, such as eating lunch together and going bowling, in a determined effort to befriend her. By the end of that day, Ibuki begins to view the others as friends, showing a gradual warming of her icy exterior. From being a completely isolated figure, she becomes Sumomo's friend and a peripheral member of the larger group.
