Description
Kanan Chinami is a student at the Ichou branch campus of Hiiragi Academy, where she is known for having an unusual and distinctive voice that sounds exactly like an anime character. This trait has earned her the informal nickname Anime Voice among her peers. She is 17 years old and has physical features that include red hair cut to neck length and pink eyes.

Chinami harbors deep shame and embarrassment regarding her own voice, primarily due to the unwanted attention and ridicule she feels it attracts. As a result of this insecurity, she made a personal decision to force herself into muteness, refusing to speak aloud and communicating with others exclusively through text messages on her phone or through written notes. Despite her silence, rumors about her unique voice had spread through the school, making her something of an idol among the male student body, many of whom wanted to date her simply for the chance to hear her speak.

Her motivations change significantly when she encounters Junichirou Kagami, an otaku who takes a genuine interest in her not merely for her voice but for who she is as a person. When Kagami becomes her home tutor to help her prepare for a physics test, Chinami begins to warm up to him. She was on the verge of backing out of the test entirely, but Kagami intervenes, telling her that he is interested in the person behind the voice and that her unique voice is an irreplaceable part of her identity. This sentiment resonates with Chinami, allowing her to finally speak directly to him for the first time, whispering her words into his ear.

This moment serves as a turning point in her development. Gaining newfound confidence and satisfaction with her voice, Chinami decides to join the Broadcasting Club at Ichou Academy, where she becomes a hyperactive radio announcer and fully embraces using her voice in a positive and productive manner. She has strict parents and has shown difficulty with her physics studies prior to receiving tutoring.

Within the story, after her initial arc, Chinami frequently appears alongside her fellow classmate Shikishima, often following along with Kagami's various schemes and adventures. She takes on a role similar to an older sister figure for a younger student named Koutarou Araki, particularly after Kagami praised her for her skill in creating cute handmade Uroboros items. Later, encouraged by a famous voice actress named Kawashima Miyuki, Chinami develops a strong interest in pursuing voice acting professionally, forming a friendly rivalry with another student named Kanou as they both strive to improve their skills in that field. She is later considered as a candidate to follow Kagami to the main campus for a significant competition, and while she is not initially chosen due to her air-headed nature, she ultimately transfers there as one of his reserve students thanks to the efforts of another character.
