Description
Minako Kanou is a student at Higashi Shinmei High School, the same school where Junichirou Kagami was once a student and now works as a teacher. She initially appears as a serious and academically driven teenager, focused on achieving success in her studies. However, beneath this studious exterior lies a secret passion for otaku culture, particularly science fiction and fantasy anime and manga. This hidden side of her personality creates an internal conflict, as she struggles to reconcile her genuine love for these interests with her fear of being judged or not taken seriously by her peers. Her motivation is rooted in a desire to be respected and to succeed on her own terms, yet she is uncertain about how to openly embrace all parts of herself.

Before the events of the series, Minako was the leader of a delinquent group known as the Black Oracle Neo, or BON. During that time, she harbored a deep resentment toward the world, feeling that it lacked true heroes. A pivotal moment in her past came when she encountered Junichirou Kagami in an online chatroom. He told her that if there are no heroes, one should become a hero oneself. This advice inspired her to change her path and strive for a better future, eventually leading her to pursue a dream of becoming a voice actor. This aspiration reflects her desire to give life to characters that can inspire others, much like the heroes she once longed for.

In the story, Minako is the first student who catches Junichirou's attention. Her role is significant as one of the early cases through which his unorthodox teaching methods begin to show results. He recognizes her potential and encourages her to pursue her voice acting dream, helping her move past her fear of revealing her otaku interests. Her key relationship is with Junichirou, who serves as a mentor and catalyst for her personal growth. She also interacts with other students in the school, and over time she becomes more open and confident.

Her development is primarily defined by learning to accept and express her authentic self. She starts as a guarded individual who compartmentalizes her life, but gradually she becomes more comfortable sharing her hobbies and ambitions with others. She eventually joins the anime club, where she can freely explore her interests alongside like-minded peers. This journey reflects her growth from a disillusioned former delinquent into a young woman with a clear goal and the courage to pursue it.

Notable abilities include her academic competence and her leadership experience from her time as the head of a delinquent group. She also possesses a strong sense of determination and the capacity for self-reflection, which allows her to change her outlook and work toward her voice acting aspirations. Her physical appearance is marked by long black hair and brown eyes.
