Description
Jangmisujeong, also known as Barasuishou, is a central antagonist introduced in the anime series Rozen Maiden: Träumend. She presents herself as the seventh doll in the Rozen Maiden collection, but this is a falsehood designed to initiate the deadly Alice Game. Barasuishou is not a creation of the legendary doll maker Rozen but is instead the masterwork of his former apprentice, a jealous and ambitious doll craftsman named Enju, whom she calls Father. Her design and overall appearance are believed to be based on Enju's recollection of Rozen's original design for the true seventh doll, Kirakishou, making her something of a mirror image or imitation.

In terms of appearance, Barasuishou is clad in an ornate, predominantly lavender dress with puffy shoulders and wide sleeves, paired with a light pink underskirt and high purple boots. She has long, slightly wavy white or purple-gray hair. Her most distinctive feature is a purple, rose-adorned eyepatch covering her left eye, which she is later revealed not to need. The eyepatch seems to function as a seal for her emotions, and her visible eye is a striking golden-yellow color.

Barasuishou’s personality is highly mercurial and unnervingly cold. For most of the story, she displays little to no emotion, carrying out her mission to collect the other dolls Rosa Mysticae with a detached and merciless efficiency. Her speech is often blunt and short, and she has a notable habit of parrot-like mimicking, deliberately repeating what another person, particularly her rival Shinku, has just said. Despite her usual emotionlessness, she shows flashes of a more complex inner state. She reveals a deep, if rarely expressed, care for her creator, Enju, and her actions are driven by a desire to fulfill his wish of surpassing Rozen. In battle, she can be unpredictably cruel and violent, but on rare occasions, she displays disarming behavior, such as giggling or smiling even when at a disadvantage. Her emotional seal fully breaks only at the moment of her demise.

The primary motivation of Barasuishou is to win the Alice Game. She pursues this goal to prove that Enju has created a doll superior to Rozen´s own and thus fulfill her father's ambition. Her role in the story is that of an impostor who forces the true Rozen Maidens out of their peaceful coexistence and into a final, tragic conflict. She cunningly manipulates other dolls, misleading Suigintou into cooperating with her by suggesting the game could heal her medium and tricking Souseiseki with a fabricated vision of a weeping Father. She is a formidable antagonist, quickly defeating several dolls and collecting their Rosa Mysticae to become the last one standing.

Her key relationship is with her creator, Enju. He sees her as the means to an end, a tool to prove his own genius, while Barasuishou appears to hold genuine loyalty and affection for him. She is a rival to all Rozen Maidens, but has a particular antagonistic interest in Shinku, who becomes her final opponent. The relationship between Suigintou and Barasuishou is one of convenience, as Barasuishou manipulates the mercury doll to her own ends while appearing to be an ally.

In terms of development, Barasuishou follows a tragic arc. She initially appears as an overpowering, almost invincible force, but after absorbing the majority of the Rosa Mysticae, she starts to show signs of vulnerability. Her fate is sealed not by defeat in combat, but by the very nature of her creation. Because she is an imitation and not a true Rozen Maiden, her body is unable to contain the combined power of the stolen Rosa Mysticae. In her final moments, her eyepatch falls off, her face contorts with fear, and she begins to cry as cracks spread across her body. In a display of desperate emotion, she cries out to her father as she crumbles to pieces in his arms, and both vanish in a flash of light.

Barasuishou is an exceptionally powerful combatant, wielding the ability to create and manipulate purple crystals. She can summon them as spikes from the ground, use them as shields, or form them into bladed weapons like a sword or daggers. She has demonstrated the power to freeze an opponent inside a large crystal, instantaneously defeating Suiseiseki. She can also appear and disappear at will and unleash an explosive burst of purple light from her body. Lacking her own artificial spirit, she is a unique and powerful anomaly whose strength is ultimately undermined by her own artificial origins.
