Description
Georges Miyagusuku is a central supporting character in Blood+, serving as the adoptive father of the protagonist Saya and her brothers Kai and Riku. He is a middle-aged Okinawan-American man, easily recognized by his tall stature, gray hair, and goatee, who brings a sense of grounded warmth and stability to the story's often dark and violent world.

His background is marked by profound loss and military service. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in the Vietnam War, an experience that directly connects him to Saya’s mysterious past. He was one of the soldiers present during a harrowing incident in Vietnam where Saya, in a previous awakening, lost control and killed everyone around her, friend and foe alike. As one of the few survivors, he was entrusted by an agent of the Red Shield organization named David to watch over Saya's sleeping body after she entered another cycle of hibernation. Prior to this, Georges had already suffered a devastating personal tragedy, having lost his wife and biological children in an accident. The sound of Saya's heartbeat from within her cocoon gave him a renewed reason to live, and when she finally awoke without the memories of her violent past, he chose to adopt her, giving her a loving home in the Koza district of Okinawa. He also adopted Kai and Riku, two brothers who had also lost their parents. He runs a family pub and restaurant called Omoro, which serves as the central gathering place for his family.

In terms of personality, Georges is defined by his unwavering kindness, optimism, and moral strength. He is almost always cheerful around his children, and he possesses a unique ability to bring out Saya's most human and joyful side, grounding her in a normal life of school, track meets, and family dinners. He defends Saya fiercely, not as a monster or a weapon, but as his daughter, even when others see her only as a tool against their enemies. His sense of morality is absolute; he would rather face death with dignity than succumb to becoming a monster.

His primary motivation throughout the story is the protection of his family. Despite being a civilian restaurant owner, he is not helpless. His military training has left him proficient with firearms, reflecting his past as a soldier. He is also a skilled cook and a talented baseball player, having passed on his love for the sport to his sons. His role in the plot evolves from a passive guardian to an active participant. While he initially tries to keep Saya’s true nature a secret to preserve her peaceful life, he is forced to confront the reality of the chiropteran threat when it arrives on his doorstep.

The key relationships in his life define his actions. His bond with Saya is the most significant; he is the anchor that keeps her connected to her humanity. With his sons, he is a patient and loving father, offering guidance to the hot-headed Kai and nurturing the gentle nature of Riku. He also maintains a complex relationship with David and the Red Shield organization, reluctantly accepting their financial support while fiercely resisting their attempts to treat Saya merely as an asset.

Georges undergoes a tragic but heroic development arc. After being attacked by a chiropteran, he is captured and used as a test subject for a experimental serum called Delta 67. The combination of his wounds and the serum begins to slowly transform him into a chiropteran, the very creatures his family fights against. Realizing the imminent loss of his humanity, he makes the ultimate sacrifice. Demonstrating his strong will and love, he asks Saya to pour her blood into his wounds to end his suffering and prevent his transformation, effectively killing him. This act is a devastating emotional turning point for Saya and the rest of the family, cementing his legacy as a man who chose to die as a human rather than live as a monster.
