TV-Series
Description
Itsuki Midoriba is a student at Verbena Academy and a close friend of the main protagonist, Rin Tsuchimi. He serves as a side character and a comedic foil to Rin throughout the series. Standing at 178cm tall and with a birthday on March 14th, Itsuki cuts a physically attractive and charismatic figure. In his background, it is revealed that he became friends with Rin during middle school when Rin helped fight off a group of hooligans that were surrounding Itsuki and his childhood friend, Mayumi Thyme.
Itsuki's personality is defined by a flamboyant and arrogant public persona, as he refers to himself using "oresama," a grandiose and self-aggrandizing pronoun. He is an unapologetic womanizer who spends much of his time checking out pretty girls and openly flirting with them, much to the annoyance of his peers. Despite his lecherous behavior, he is genuinely very intelligent and insightful, consistently scoring high marks on exams and often being the one to explain complex situations to Rin and the others. He maintains a close, if often contentious, friendship with Mayumi, with whom he frequently bickers, particularly about her small bust size. Though he hides it behind teasing, he actually harbors romantic feelings for her. He also holds a deep admiration for Kaede Fuyou, praising her beauty and personality above all other girls, and is known for his daily, yet always thwarted, attempts to hug her. His relationship with his homeroom teacher, Nadeshiko Benibara, is largely comedic, as his advances on her typically result in detention or absurd punishments.
While Itsuki often presents himself as a rival to Rin, envious of the attention Rin receives from the heroines and teasing him by claiming he will take the leftover girls, he is ultimately a reliable and loyal friend. In times of crisis, such as during the conclusion of Primula's route or in the visual novel Really? Really!, Itsuki sheds his comical mannerisms and provides the intelligent and level-headed solutions needed to solve serious problems, demonstrating a more sincere and caring side. This serious shift is often marked by a change in his first-person pronoun from "oresama" to the more standard "ore". His notable abilities lie not in physical combat but in his sharp intellect, charisma, and ability to read people and situations, making him an invaluable ally when genuine trouble arises.
