Description
Ichijo-san is a student at Peach Moon Academy and serves as the class representative for the unconventional Class 1-C. Her background is largely enigmatic, though she has expressed a humble desire to become a domestic woman like her mother, an aspiration that stands in stark contrast to her usual behavior. She is a quiet, expressionless girl who rarely shows emotion, a trait that, combined with her actions, leads to an ambiguous morality where it is difficult to discern if she is genuinely malevolent or simply chaotic. She appears to operate on her own whims, doing things simply because she feels like it, without regard for conventional rules or the well-being of others. This is evident in her willingness to poison her classmates, such as when she created poisoned sweet rice dumplings, and her general lack of qualms about causing harm or leaving others to be killed.
Ichijo-san's role in the story is a major source of surreal humor and chaos, as she frequently instigates bizarre and dangerous situations. For example, she once created the Ichijo Festival, which involved constructing an entire universe within a fruit box that later threatened the entire planet, yet she faced no repercussions for this act. She is one of the few characters aware of the aliens who secretly observe her teacher, Rebecca Miyamoto, from orbit. Her key relationships are with her teacher and her fellow students, particularly the class's pet rabbit, Mesousa, who is a frequent victim of her culinary experiments. She also has a connection to the aliens; while they are forbidden from contacting their observation subject, Ichijo-san discovered their existence, breaking that rule.
Notable abilities are a hallmark of Ichijo-san's character, as she seems capable of bending reality to her will. She has demonstrated numerous superhuman feats, including subduing ninjas, bungee jumping using her own hair, infiltrating alien spaceships, and attacking people with strings. She can summon rain at will and plays a shamisen with such force that the strings break without being strummed. She also has the power to create hammer space boxes that serve as plot devices, often leading to world-threatening events. Throughout the series, her actions show no development or change, as she remains a consistently powerful, enigmatic, and disruptive force in Class 1-C.
