Description
Dukemon is a prominent character in the film Digital Monster X-Evolution, where he is depicted as a member of the Royal Knights, an elite group of Digimon tasked with maintaining order in the Digital World under the authority of the host computer Yggdrasil. From the outset of the story, Dukemon stands out among his peers due to a calm and contemplative personality that leads him to deeply question the orders he receives. Unlike other Royal Knights who follow Yggdrasils commands without hesitation, Dukemon believes that all Digimon, whether born with the X-Antibody or not, deserve to be treated equally and protected. This fundamental belief puts him at odds with his sworn duty and sets him on a path of quiet rebellion.
His primary motivation is rooted in a strong sense of justice and a desire to uncover the truth behind Yggdrasils plan known as Project Ark. He uncovers that the project has moved into its second stage, which calls for the complete deletion of the Digital World and all Digimon within it. Refusing to participate in this mass extinction, Dukemon openly defies Yggdrasil and chooses to protect the very Digimon he was ordered to eliminate. He intervenes in a battle to save Dorugamon and WarGreymon X, revealing the host computers true destructive intentions to them and helping them escape. This act of defiance puts him into direct conflict with his closest ally.
The most pivotal relationship in Dukemons story is with his comrade, Omegamon. The two are portrayed as good friends, yet they find themselves on opposite sides of a moral divide. While Omegamon initially follows Yggdrasils will without question, Dukemon represents the voice of dissent. Their tragic conflict comes to a head in a dramatic aerial battle where Dukemon, perhaps seeking a way to understand the nature of the X-Antibody and the boundary between life and death, allows himself to be impaled on Omegamons sword. His final words before perishing express a desire to discover something through his own death.
Dukemons development is marked by sacrifice and transcendence. His death is not an end but a transformation. By experiencing death, he acquires the X-Antibody and is resurrected as Dukemon X. This new form represents a significant evolution, both in power and conviction. Upon his return, he takes a leadership role in the final battle against the endless swarms of DexDorugremon, commanding WarGreymon X and MetalGarurumon X to evacuate survivors while he holds the enemy at bay. He opens a portal to Yggdrasils realm for Dorugremon, encouraging him to fight for his right to exist. Having seen the truth, Dukemon X survives the final cataclysm and is last seen discussing Yggdrasils motives with Omegamon X, explaining that the host computer was likely fighting against its own inevitable destruction, much like the Digimon it sought to erase.
In terms of abilities, Dukemon is a Holy Knight Digimon clad in a powerful armor made of 99.9% pure Chrome Digizoid. His standard arsenal includes the holy lance Gram on his right arm and the holy shield Aegis on his left. His signature techniques include Royal Saber, a powerful thrust from his lance, and Final Elysion, a purifying beam fired from his shield. After evolving to Dukemon X, his power is greatly amplified. He is blessed with a hybrid sacred equipment combining rare Red, Blue, and Gold Digizoids, making his lance and shield even more formidable. In this form, his lance of light is amplified, granting him access to a new, more powerful technique called Sieg Saber.
