Description
Daichi Sumeragi is a major character introduced in the film Beyblade the Movie: Fierce Battle. He is a young and hyperactive blader who serves as a rival and eventual ally to the protagonist, Tyson. In the movie, Daichi is depicted as a short boy with fiery red hair, wearing a blue shirt and pants with one leg torn at the thigh. His signature beyblade is known as Strata Dragoon in the English version, originally named Gaia Dragoon in Japanese.

Daichi’s personality is defined by his immense energy, overconfidence, and a "never give up" attitude that strongly mirrors Tyson's own character. He is shown to be constantly eating, enjoys heckling his peers, and has a notable fear of flying, all of which provide moments of comic relief. Despite his bravado, his overconfidence is a key weakness, contributing to defeats against skilled bladers like Kai and Ming-Ming. Daichi comes from a forest background and is a hard-working blader who trained close to nature, which gives him a significant advantage when battling on outdoor or natural terrain dishes. He inherited his bit-beast from his deceased father, who worked as a strong forest wood cutter, and Daichi often seeks solace in it.

In the story of Fierce Battle, Daichi pursues Tyson and the Bladebreakers for a rematch after a humiliating defeat. His role becomes critical when he is captured by an organization called the Shadow Bladers, who use his bit-beast, Gaia Dragoon, to release sealed Dark Bit-Beasts from Demon Rock Island. Daichi is then possessed by a Dark Bit-Beast, forcing Tyson, Max, Ray, and Kai to rescue him and prevent the dark spirits from destroying the world. The film serves as a narrative bridge, providing an alternate or earlier encounter between Daichi and the Bladebreakers before the events of the third season, Beyblade: G-Revolution.

Key relationships in the film are centered on Daichi’s rivalry with Tyson, who often calls him "monkeyboy." Although they constantly bicker and engage in meaningless fights, they remain good friends and effective partners. Their bond is further highlighted by a combined bit-beast attack known as the Twin Tornado Attack. Daichi also has a respectful fondness for Tyson's grandfather. Throughout the movie, Daichi demonstrates notable development from a mere annoyance seeking a rematch to a crucial character whose fate determines the outcome of the world. His resilience is showcased when, even after being defeated by the BEGA League blader Ming-Ming, he immediately vows to win their next battle.

Regarding his abilities, Daichi is a highly skilled blader, categorized as one of the strongest in G-Revolution, having defeated opponents like Rick from the PPB All Starz. He has perfected his beyblading style through training in nature, excelling in outdoor environments. His bit-beast, Strata Dragoon (Gaia Dragoon), is a variant of Dragoon that possesses powerful attacks and the unique ability to combine with Tyson's bit-beast for the Twin Tornado Attack. A recurring physical trait is his tendency to faint after particularly tough matches, suggesting that while his bit-beast is powerful, his endurance is still developing.
