TV-Series
Description
Mel is a member of the Befort Children, a group of ageless, pale-haired beings who appear throughout history. Her role within this group is defined by a gradual but profound decline. She is the second of the children to leave the group, and her departure is not a choice but a consequence of her deteriorating condition. Following the departure of another member named Palza, Mel begins to weaken. This weakness manifests most critically as a loss of memory, causing her to forget her companions and her own past.

This memory failure reaches a crisis point in the South Eastern Islands. The Befort Children arrive to find a woman named Serafine, who has just died. It is in this moment that Mel’s amnesia becomes complete. Unable to recognize the other children, she refuses to flee with them when they are discovered by a mysterious and dangerous young man named Dumas. As a result, she is captured by his men while the others escape.

Mel’s narrative continues through the concept of reincarnation, a central mechanic of the series. By the main timeframe of Fantastic Children, she has been reincarnated as Doctor Gherta Hawksbee, a scientist working for an organization known as the GED. This organization utilizes research from both Conrad, a man connected to Mel's past, and scientists from a place called Greecia. Although her current identity is Gherta, the bonds from her previous life as Mel persist on a subconscious level. Conrad was the reincarnation of Palza, the very member whose departure initiated Mel’s decline. Even though Conrad lived and died long before Gherta’s time, she feels an unexplainable attraction to the memory and idea of him, a lingering echo of the deep bond that existed between Mel and Palza.
