Description
The character known as Jr. is the public face and co-director of the Kukai Foundation, a powerful organization based on the planet Second Miltia. Despite his youthful appearance, which resembles that of a boy around twelve years old, Jr. is biologically twenty-six years old. This discrepancy is a result of his true nature as a genetically engineered being. His real name is Rubedo, and he was originally designated as U.R.T.V. unit number 666, a variant model created as part of a project to produce living weapons capable of combating a cosmic threat known as U-DO. He is often referred to as "Little Master" by those under his command, a nod to his small stature and leadership role.

In terms of personality, Jr. presents a complex blend of childishness and mature sensibility. He often acts on impulse and can be cocky and sarcastic, displaying a reckless enthusiasm that matches his young looks. He has a well-documented fondness for collecting antique firearms, action movies, and classic literature, hobbies that inform his combat style and personal tastes. However, beneath this energetic exterior lies the mind of a seasoned adult who has lived through trauma and carries the weight of significant responsibility. He is deeply empathetic, particularly toward those who suffer under oppressive systems, and has zero tolerance for cruelty. His outwardly carefree demeanor often masks a sharp intellect and a capacity for making difficult, pragmatic decisions.

Jr.'s core motivations are heavily rooted in his past and his guilt. As a child, he was the leader of the U.R.T.V. unit. During a critical mission on the planet Miltia known as the Miltian Conflict, he had a vision of the planet's destruction and, in a moment of panic, severed the psychic link that protected his comrades from U-DO. This action resulted in most of the other U.R.T.V.s being killed or driven insane, including his twin brother, Albedo. Jr. has been tormented by guilt over this decision ever since, and a significant part of his journey is driven by a need to atone for his past failure and confront his brother, who survived but became a primary antagonist.

His role in the story is that of a secondary protagonist and a key military leader. He commands the Durandal, a massive ship, and leads combat missions for the Foundation. He is frequently at odds with the U-TIC Organization and is personally invested in stopping Albedo's destructive schemes. One of his most important relationships is with MOMO, a Realian (artificial human) modeled after a girl named Sakura Mizrahi. In his youth, Jr. met Sakura within her subconscious and fell in love with her, promising to protect her mother and future "little sister". He sees MOMO as that sister and is fiercely protective of her, with their bond forming a central emotional thread of the narrative. He also shares a deep, telepathic connection with his surviving "brother," Gaignun Kukai (the URTV Nigredo), who serves as the Foundation's other co-director and often acts as a counterbalance to Jr.'s impulsiveness.

Throughout the events of the story, Jr. undergoes significant development. He is forced to repeatedly confront the ghosts of his past, including his traumatic origins and his fractured relationship with Albedo. Initially relying on firepower and suppressing his innate abilities, he eventually learns to accept his nature and face his brother directly. His journey is one of reconciliation, both with his own identity as Rubedo and with the dark legacy of the U.R.T.V. project, culminating in a final, bittersweet resolution to his complex family drama.

Jr. possesses several notable abilities. As a U.R.T.V. variant, he has innate telepathic and telekinetic powers. His most unique ability is the "Red Dragon Mode," a power that amplifies his anti-U-DO waves to devastating levels of destructive potential. Because this power is dangerous and difficult to control, Jr. has subconsciously halted his own cellular development to suppress it, which is the direct cause of his childlike stature. As a result, he prefers to rely on conventional combat skills, and he is a master of gunplay, often wielding a pair of pistols in battle with great proficiency.
