Description
M.O.M.O., whose name stands for Multiple Observative Mimetic Organicus, is a prototype 100-series Observational Realian. She was created by the scientist Joachim Mizrahi and his wife Juli Mizrahi using genetic engineering shortly before the Miltian Conflict. She was modeled in the likeness of their deceased daughter, Sakura, and designed with the appearance and personality of a twelve-year-old girl. Because of her nature as an artificial human, she does not age. Her creation was partially intended to allow Sakura to interact with the real world, and also to serve as a tool for observing and contacting the hostile alien Gnosis. Joachim Mizrahi hid critical research data known as the Y-Data within her subconscious, making her the key to locating the Zohar, a powerful artifact.

Personality-wise, M.O.M.O. is kind, compassionate, and deeply cares about those around her. She dislikes being referred to by her model number because she wishes to be seen as human rather than as a mere Realian; she insists on being called by her acronym as it sounds more human. Despite her youthful appearance, she often demonstrates impressive maturity and wisdom. In tense situations, she may make innocent jokes to keep her companions from worrying. She is motivated by a desire to fulfill Joachim’s wishes and to gain the acceptance and approval of Juli Mizrahi, who initially saw her only as a painful reminder of Sakura and treated her coldly.

Her role in the story is central: she is the only known source of the Y-Data, and as such she becomes the target of multiple factions, including the U-TIC Organization and the U.M.N., as well as the antagonist Albedo Piazzolla. At the beginning of the anime, she is held prisoner by U-TIC on the base Pleroma. She is rescued by the cyborg Ziggurat 8, whom she nicknames Ziggy because she finds his official designation too formal. Ziggy becomes a father figure to her, protecting her beyond his assigned mission. Together they escape to the starship Elsa, where she meets the other main characters: Shion Uzuki, KOS-MOS, Allen Ridgeley, and later the Kukai Foundation members including Jr. She forms close bonds with the group, particularly with Ziggy and Jr., and comes to see Juli as a mother figure, though their relationship remains strained for much of the story.

Throughout the anime, M.O.M.O. shows signs of development as she comes to terms with her own identity and her desire to be valued for who she is rather than as a replacement for Sakura or as a data container. When Albedo kidnaps her and attempts to extract the Y-Data, she is traumatized but later shows resilience. Her interactions with Juli also evolve, especially after Juli witnesses the danger M.O.M.O. faces and begins to treat her more like a real daughter.

As a 100-series Observational Realian, M.O.M.O. possesses several notable abilities. She has enhanced observational skills, including the ability to detect life signs. She can use Ether powers and spells, which allow her to heal allies and attack enemies from a distance. She is capable of using the Hilbert Effect, which disrupts the sensor systems of enemy A.G.W.S. units. She can directly connect to the U.M.N., a galactic information network, granting her something akin to telepathic communication. In combat, she wields short magical rods that can fire laser beams, and she can transform into a more powerful form for a limited time, changing her costume to access different Ether abilities. Her skills make her a valuable support and offensive member of the team.
