Description
Asaka Nogiku, also known as the Nerloid Girl, is a central character in the anime and light novel series Dokkoida?!. She is an Earth girl who resides in room 4 of the Cosmos House apartment building. Her involvement in the story's central conflict stems from her employment with the Emerald Company, a rival toy manufacturer. Her job is to test their power suit, which transforms her into the superheroine known as Nerloid Girl, in order to compete for a lucrative contract with the galactic police.

In terms of personality, Asaka is depicted as a quintessential hard-drinking party girl, with a particular fondness for beer. This trait is a defining aspect of her character, as she is often seen enjoying a drink and is known to store her beer in the refrigerator of her neighbors, Suzuo and Tanpopo. Her demeanor is frequently described as tomboyish, earning her the archetype of a lad-ette. This is reflected in her casual and straightforward attitude, which contrasts with more traditionally feminine or reserved characters. Her appearance, which includes a ponytail, further complements this image.

Asaka's motivations are primarily professional, driven by her contract with the Emerald Company. As Nerloid Girl, she battles the class A criminals who have been unleashed as part of the corporate competition, making her a direct rival to the protagonist, Suzuo Sakurazaki, in his superhero form, Dokkoida. Her success in these missions is tied to her company's chance to win the production contract. A critical rule of this competition is that her secret identity must remain hidden; if it is discovered, she will be disqualified. This creates a constant undercurrent of tension in her daily life at Cosmos House.

Her role in the story is defined by this dual existence. In her civilian life as Asaka, she lives unaware of the true identities of her neighbors, forming a genuine friendship with Suzuo and Tanpopo. This relationship is key to the series' humor and drama. A significant plot point involves the classic trope of loving an alter ego. While Nerloid Girl is not particularly fond of Dokkoida as a rival, Asaka herself harbors feelings for Suzuo in his civilian identity. This reversal of the usual superhero romance dynamic is a central theme in her key relationships.

Asaka's character undergoes notable development, particularly in the final arc of the story. At a critical juncture, she loses her memory, leaving her unable to participate in the final battles alongside the other residents of Cosmos House. However, at the climax of the series, her memories are restored. She appears at a crucial moment to aid Dokkoida, declaring that she might still fall in love with him and revealing herself once more as Nerloid Girl. Together, they fight as a unified team, embodying the motto of being two in body but one in mind. In the end, she returns to live at Cosmos House, with Suzuo's wish ensuring that the entire group can remain together.

As Nerloid Girl, her notable abilities include the power to manipulate and control plants, which she uses both offensively to capture enemies and supportively to heal her allies. Her superhero costume is noted for its revealing, stripperific design, a common visual trait for female heroes in this genre. In contrast, her civilian abilities are more grounded, highlighted by her remarkable tolerance for food, as she is shown to genuinely enjoy Tanpopo's notoriously bizarre and inedible cooking.
