Liz Ricarro is the defender for Team Satomi in the Immortal Grand Prix. She is a sixteen-year-old orphan from Puerto Rico who found her only family in her teammates and coaches. Liz is loud, hot-tempered, and behaves like a tomboy, often clashing with her teammate Takeshi over his carefree attitude. Despite her abrasive exterior, she is fiercely devoted to IGPX, which gave her a sense of belonging she lacked growing up. She is an accomplished martial artist, practicing styles such as kung fu (or capoeira in earlier versions) and frequently quoting Confucius. On the racetrack, she is widely regarded as the best defensive pilot in the IG league, having trained her entire life to achieve that level of skill. Liz has a strong competitive streak and always strives to win, sometimes coming across as obnoxious, but she gradually opens up to her teammates, especially Amy, about her difficult past. She initially dislikes animals, particularly dogs, but learns to tolerate the team’s cybernetic cat Luca over time. Her frustration with Takeshi stems from a deeper emotional connection, and by the end of the series she admits her romantic feelings for him. In a later subplot, she takes up modeling to earn money to support the orphanage where she grew up. Liz is a pragmatic observer during races, often calling out opposing teams’ strategies, and she remains fiercely protective of her teammates under any circumstance.
