Neito is a character from the anime and video game Yumeria, a being who originates from a dystopian future. She exists as a separate consciousness residing within the body of the young girl Neneko, emerging only when Neneko falls asleep. When Neito takes control, her eyes change from Neneko’s purple to a vivid green. In her future timeline, the world—both the real world and the dream world known as Moera—has been destroyed by the alien race called the Feydooms, leaving only a handful of human survivors, many of whom have lost their sanity. Driven by a desire to prevent this catastrophe, Neito travels back in time using a method described as reverse reincarnation, allowing her to inhabit Neneko’s body. Her primary motivation is to aid the protagonist Tomokazu Mikuri in his fight against the Feydooms, believing that his unique power is key to saving both worlds.

Neito’s personality contrasts sharply with Neneko’s. While Neneko is cheerful, curious, and excitable, Neito is calm, serious, and more reserved. She approaches situations with a levelheaded mindset and a clear sense of purpose, reflecting the harsh experiences of her future. Despite her serious demeanor, she develops a bond with Neneko and later becomes friends with her after gaining the ability to exist as a separate entity. Within the dream world of Moera, Neito wears a different outfit and gains combat abilities, fighting alongside the other characters to repel the Feydoom invaders. She has a small light-brown cat that accompanies her, similar to the cat Neneko keeps. Over the course of the story, Neito transitions from a hidden presence who only surfaces during sleep to an independent being who chooses to remain in the past, ultimately forming a close relationship with Neneko and deciding to stay with her.
