It originates from the lingering spirits of deceased Zorua resurrected in the Hisui region, its powers fueled by resentment toward humans and Pokémon. This spiteful energy manifests as ghostly mimicries created from the long fur on its head, neck, and tail, distinct from other Zorua's illusions.

During Alec's childhood visit to the Alabaster Icelands with his father, this Zorua was practicing illusions in the forest. Spoting Alec, it created an illusionary face that amused him, causing his mask to fall off. When Alec approached, the Zorua lashed out defensively, resulting in both tumbling down a snowy cliff. After the fall, the Zorua remained with the injured Alec, foraging bitter medicinal roots to treat his leg wound and guiding him in their use, signaling a shift from hostility to cooperation.

The Zorua later accompanied Alec toward his father. The reunion triggered hostility from Alec's father, prompting the Zorua's parent, a Hisuian Zoroark, to intervene and retrieve it, retreating into the forest. This separation left Alec's childhood Baneful Fox mask abandoned in the snow.

Years later, the Zorua—now evolved into Hisuian Zoroark—reemerged during a space-time distortion incident. It protected Alec and Jubilife security corps from an enraged Alpha Garchomp by unleashing illusions to intimidate the foe. After the confrontation, Zoroark returned Alec's childhood mask by placing it on a tree stump, confirming their past connection and acknowledging their shared history despite the years apart. Its actions reveal a capacity for empathy and loyalty alongside its resentment-fueled powers.
