Description
Pururu, also known as Pururu Head Nurse, is a Keronian character in the anime and manga series Sgt. Frog. She is the chief medic of the Garuru Platoon, the follow-up unit that the Keron military sends to Earth under Lieutenant Garuru, and she is the newest as well as the only female member of that platoon. As a child she was a playmate of Keroro, Giroro, and Dororo and was a popular figure among her classmates. Her appearance consists of violet skin, large purple eyes, and a pink cap bearing a yellow and pink heart symbol, with the upturned sides of the cap giving the impression of cat ears. In childhood her cap was flat and decorated with a light pink flower. Although her tadpole-like design makes her look young, she is an adult and the same age as her three childhood friends.

In terms of personality, Pururu is energetic, down-to-earth, and highly capable. She has a strict and somewhat stubborn side and can be slightly vain, but she is also kind, warm, and mature, and she stands out from many of the series' major characters because she is nonviolent and level-headed. She is efficient in her duties, keeps her composure during emergencies, and is good at handling unexpected situations. She strongly dislikes being called an aunt or an old woman. Her cute looks and charming demeanor tend to draw others to her, notably a young Giroro and the adult Keroro.

Her path to becoming a nurse has a clear origin in her childhood. When she and the tadpole versions of Keroro, Giroro, and Dororo teamed up to reclaim a secret base from a trio of Keronian bullies, Pururu disguised herself as a bee and was assigned to attack the chief bully with a needle. She enjoyed the experience, and this inspired her to become a nurse. In the manga, the actions of Keroro, Giroro, and Zeroro in the Keron Army are what motivated her to join the army herself, and she cares deeply about all of them. Her motivation as a soldier is to support her comrades through her medical skills.

Her role in the story begins with the arrival of the Garuru Platoon on Earth, where that unit operates mainly over several episodes in the second season. She later returns to Earth in a story in which she performs health checkups on the Keroro Platoon and remains for a number of episodes. Subsequent appearances give her storylines of her own, including an episode where she goes undercover at a sleepover and seems to reveal that she is in love with one of Keroro's old friends, an episode centered on the soldier Bariri's affection for her, and a June bride-themed story.

Her key relationships are with her childhood friends. Keroro develops a romantic crush on her, but she regards him, Giroro, and Dororo with sibling-like affection, still viewing them as the childish tadpoles they once were. Giroro had a crush on her in his youth but later comes to harbor stronger feelings for Natsumi. She also becomes friends with Chiruyo Tsukigami, a member of the newspaper club at Fuyuki's school, and helps Chiruyo pursue her feelings for Fuyuki. Over the course of the series, her role develops from that of a member of a rival platoon into a recurring supporting character whose past, friendships, and romantic entanglements are explored.

Her notable abilities come from her medical expertise. As an expert nurse she is skilled at conducting examinations and caring for others, and her weapon of choice is a large light-pink ball-point syringe similar to the needle she wielded as a child. Her signature attack technique is called Purification Energy Injection. She is also able to transform into a human form, and her capable and efficient nature makes her well suited to handling crises.
