Description
Halca Hepburn is a 25-year-old woman who has a lifelong and deeply personal interest in the creatures known as Legendz. To pursue this passion and investigate the young boy Shu, whom she suspects has a connection to Legendz, she takes on a job as a teacher at his school, serving as the homeroom teacher for his class. Her academic background includes attending UCLA.
Halca is a striking and glamorous woman, a trait she believes she inherited from her mother, and she typically rides a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. She often adopts a plain, spectacled appearance as a teacher, but otherwise prefers to wear a white rider’s suit. Her fashion sense is notably variable, having worn her high school uniform on a date and later donned a daring black bondage-style outfit under a long cloak. Her personality is initially marked by a fanatical obsession with Legendz, to the point of neglecting her teaching duties to research them or collecting their body parts in a frenzy of excitement. This obsession is specifically focused on the legendary Windragon Shiron, around whom she becomes completely flustered and infatuated, even professing to be in love with him.
Despite this, she has a strong phobia of mice, especially white ones, and will run in terror at the sight of Shiron in his compact, mouse-like form. Her motivations change significantly over the course of the story. After a critical event at Elemental Region, she learns of the true, frightening nature of Legendz and the danger the children are in. At this point, she decides to protect them, making Shiron promise not to involve the children anymore. However, upon seeing Shiron with Shu again, she feels deeply betrayed and becomes hostile towards Legendz, working with the organization DWC and allying with Ransheen in an attempt to separate the children from the Legendz.
Her worldview is shattered and she reconsiders her path after a traumatic reunion with her father, Yuru. Horrified by his madness, which led him to sacrifice even her mother in a crusade to eradicate Legendz, Halca ultimately changes her own views. Throughout the story, her life is deeply intertwined with the secrets of Legendz, which she uncovers while researching her father's old books, discovering dark and startling truths about their origins. Her key relationships are with Shu, whom she both teaches and investigates; Shiron, the object of her conflicted infatuation and enmity; and her father, whose extreme ideology serves as a dark mirror for her own obsession.
