Description
Olong, whose name is more commonly rendered as Oolong, is an anthropomorphic, shapeshifting pig who appears as a supporting character in Dragon Ball Movie 2: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle. In the continuity of the original Dragon Ball story, Oolong was first introduced as a small-time troublemaker who used his transformation skills to frighten a village and kidnap young women until he was defeated by Goku. After that encounter he became a reluctant but enduring member of Goku and Bulma's circle of companions, and by the time of this film he is an established part of the group, joining his friends on a summer outing. The film presents a self-contained parallel version of the early Dragon Ball setting, and Oolong appears in it as a familiar companion rather than as a character with his own agenda.
In personality, Oolong is lazy, cautious, and self-indulgent. He avoids physical confrontation whenever possible and generally puts his own comfort and safety ahead of adventure. He is also prone to lecherous and childish whims, which form much of his comic presence. When their aircraft is attacked by ogres and Bulma is carried off into the castle, Oolong takes part in the rescue attempt. Together with Yamcha and Puar, he sneaks into the ogre gathering disguised as a creature of the castle, using his shapeshifting to blend in. The plan fails at a critical moment because his transformations can only be maintained for about five minutes, and he reverts to his normal form just when it matters, exposing the trio and leading to their capture. Later, after Goku's giant ape rampage destroys the stone prison and the group regroups, Oolong is free once more, and even his clothing proves useful: Goku, left without his own clothes, wears Oolong's overall pants for the final confrontation inside the castle.
His key relationships in the film are with the regular members of Goku's group. He is most closely tied to Bulma, whose capture motivates his involvement, and he travels alongside Yamcha and the fellow shape-shifter Puar.
