Description
Astonaige Medoz serves as the chief mechanic aboard the Argama, the flagship of the Anti Earth Union Group, throughout the events of the Gryps War. His primary role is the maintenance, repair, and field customization of the ship's mobile suits, a task he performs with notable dedication despite the constant combat and limited resources available to the crew. His physical appearance is often described as scruffy, reflecting the hands-on and high-pressure nature of his work in the warship's hangar bay.

Beyond his technical responsibilities, Astonaige possesses a keen and genuine interest in mobile suit technology, which sets him apart from a typical support crew member. This enthusiasm allows him to form a collaborative relationship with Kamille Bidan, the young civilian-turned-pilot who designs the Zeta Gundam. Astonaige works directly with Kamille during the design and construction phases of this advanced transformable mobile suit, contributing his practical engineering expertise to turn theoretical plans into a functional weapon. His mechanical skill is such that he is trusted with the ongoing upgrades and fine-tuning of the Zeta Gundam throughout the war, ensuring its performance keeps pace with the evolving threats.

His personality is defined by a quiet professionalism and a strong work ethic, focused on keeping the Argama's mobile suit complement operational against overwhelming odds. He demonstrates significant personal courage, not only by working under fire in the hangar but also on rare occasions by piloting a mobile suit himself when the tactical situation demands it. Astonaige serves as a steady and reliable presence for the younger, more volatile pilots. He provides pragmatic advice and technical guidance to both Kamille Bidan and, later, Judau Ashta during the subsequent Neo Zeon conflict, acting as a mentor figure from a support perspective.

Astonaige continues his service following the Gryps War, remaining with the Argama's successor ships and eventually becoming part of the Earth Federation's Londo Bell task force. During the Second Neo Zeon War, he serves as the chief mechanic on the Ra Cailum, the flagship of Londo Bell, under the command of Bright Noa. In this period, his personal life becomes more prominent through his relationship with Kayra Su, a mobile suit pilot in the same squadron. Their romance is cut short when Kayra is killed in action. Later, during the final battle of that conflict, Astonaige attempts to stop pilot Chan Agi from launching in a badly damaged Re-GZ mobile suit. While on the launch deck, he is caught in an explosion caused by stray beam rifle fire from a hostile Geara Doga, and he does not survive the encounter. Throughout his appearances, Astonaige Medoz is characterized as an unsung hero, an indispensable technical expert whose dedication and skill are vital to the success of his comrades, even as he faces personal tragedy and makes the ultimate sacrifice.
