Description
Leahlee Edaberry is a junior officer in the Earth Federation Forces who appears in the Mobile Suit Gundam F91 film. Born on January 1 of Universal Century 0101, she is twenty-two years old at the time of the story. She serves as the acting captain of the Federation training ship Space Ark after all of the vessel’s senior officers, instructors, and non-commissioned officers leave to engage the Crossbone Vanguard. With her crew composed primarily of trainees, she moves the ship to the Frontier I space colony and takes responsibility for its cargo of civilian refugees.

Leahlee is defined by a strong sense of duty, compassion, and justice. She is a capable and level-headed leader who does not hesitate to make difficult decisions, even when those decisions put her at odds with higher-ranking officers. Her primary motivation throughout the film is to ensure the safe evacuation of the Space Ark and its passengers from the escalating conflict, prioritizing civilian lives over military counterattacks. This brings her into direct conflict with Cosmo Eigesse, a senior Federation officer who wishes to use the Space Ark and its resources to launch an assault on Cosmo Babylonia. Leahlee stands firm against his pressure, demonstrating her unshakeable resolve and her commitment to protecting those under her charge.

In her role as acting captain, Leahlee commands the ship during a chaotic retreat from Frontier I. She is responsible for the safe navigation and defense of the vessel under combat conditions. One of her most notable actions is naming the prototype mobile suit the F91 Gundam, an homage to the legendary mobile suits of earlier conflicts. This gesture reflects her respect for the history of mobile suit warfare and her desire to carry that legacy forward. She does not pilot a mobile suit herself; her contributions are in command, logistics, and moral leadership.

Leahlee’s key relationships include her contentious dynamic with Cosmo Eigesse, who represents the older, more aggressive faction of the Federation military. She also works alongside the trainee crew, trusting them to perform under pressure despite their inexperience. She interacts with the main protagonists, Seabook Arno and Cecily Fairchild, primarily in her capacity as ship captain, offering support and direction when needed. Her development is centered on rising to the challenge of command in a crisis: she begins as a junior officer forced into a position of authority and grows into a decisive leader willing to defy her superiors for the greater good.

Leahlee Edaberry is not a Newtype or a mobile suit pilot. Her abilities are those of a competent naval officer: strategic thinking, crisis management, and the ability to inspire loyalty and cooperation among her makeshift crew. Her notable achievement is successfully evacuating a large number of refugees to the Moon, preserving civilian lives in a war that threatens to consume them.
