Description
Madre, also referred to as Mother or Mother Superior, is a supporting character in Tokyo Godfathers. She is the owner of a hostess club, Angel Tower, which employs women, including transgender women and drag queens, to entertain guests through song, dance, and socializing. She previously employed Hana before Hana became homeless. Madre is a stern but kind-hearted woman who treats her employees and former employees with a sense of maternal discipline. She has a theatrical flair and enjoys performing on stage, having been a performer at her own mother's drag club. Her personality is protective, caring, and motherly, and she serves as a stable, supportive figure for the protagonists.

Her motivation stems from a genuine concern for the people she has taken under her wing. When Hana, Gin, and Miyuki are at their lowest point, she offers them shelter at her club and provides them with information that aids their search for the baby Kiyoko's parents. She represents a link to Hana's past life and the community Hana left behind. Madre's role in the story is that of a mentor and former employer to Hana, offering a safe haven and practical assistance without undergoing a significant personal arc of her own. She remains a static but crucial figure who helps the trio continue their journey. Notable abilities include running a club, maintaining a network of contacts, and her experience as a performer. Her most prominent characteristic is her unwavering, albeit stern, maternal care for those she considers her own.
