Description
Yue is a supporting character in Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card, serving as one of the two guardians of the Clow Cards, alongside Cerberus. Created by the sorcerer Clow Reed, Yue acts as the Judge, responsible for testing any candidate who seeks to become the new master of the cards. In his true form, he appears as a tall, slender figure with long silver hair, pale skin, white wings, and a flowing white robe, embodying an ethereal and moonlike presence. His personality is markedly different from his human disguise, Yukito Tsukishiro: where Yukito is warm, kind, and gentle, Yue is reserved, stoic, and often blunt, though he gradually reveals a capacity for loyalty and care.

In the movie, Yue appears in his true form to support Sakura Kinomoto as she faces the final Clow Card, the Nothing. His motivations stem from his duty as a guardian and his growing respect for Sakura as his master. He provides crucial counsel, warning her of the emotional cost that sealing the Nothing may exact. His role in the story is both advisory and combative, as he joins Sakura, Syaoran Li, and Cerberus in the battle against the Nothing. During the fight, the Nothing erases him, but he is later restored when the card is resealed.

Yue’s key relationships include his bond with Sakura, whom he initially judged harshly but came to accept as a worthy master and eventually as a friend. He shares a complex connection with Yukito Tsukishiro, his human persona; Yue retains all of Yukito’s memories and cares for him deeply. He also interacts with Touya Kinomoto, who gave Yue some of his own magical power to sustain him. His relationship with Cerberus is marked by mutual respect and occasional friction, given their contrasting temperaments.

Throughout the series and into the film, Yue undergoes subtle development. He becomes less distant and more willing to express his concern for those he protects, particularly Sakura. His notable abilities include flight using his wings, manipulation of moonlight and shadow-based magic, the power to materialize weapons such as sharp magical projectiles, and the authority to conduct the Final Judgment. His magic is attuned to the moon, complementing Cerberus’s sun-based abilities. Yue remains a dignified and powerful figure whose presence underscores the gravity of the challenges Sakura must overcome.
