TV-Series
Description
Licorice Neilson, also known by the spelling Lycoris Neilson, is an original anime-exclusive character introduced in the second television series Orphen: The Revenge. She is a young woman with short brown hair and brown eyes, and she typically wears glasses that she has a tendency to misplace. Her official title is the Head of the Royal Public Service Protection Knights, holding the rank of B-Rank Knight and serving as a secret informant to the commander of the Third Battalion of the Public Service and Protection Department. She is assigned the mission of tracking down Orphen and persuading him to join the Royal Knights, a task she pursues with unwavering determination. Licorice is characterized as a kind, sweet, and slightly clumsy individual, often shy in manner, yet she displays a strong will when focused on her goals. She travels accompanied by a floating pink creature named Pamu, which can produce various items from its mouth, including money and reports, and has a habit of swallowing butterflies. Her real name is Licorice Reika, and she is the younger sister of Esperanza, a figure who watches over her from the shadows and is connected to the deeper troubles Licorice remains unaware of. In her role within the story, Licorice joins Orphen and his companions, accompanying them on their journey as she persistently works to fulfill her orders. She develops a particularly close bond with Cleao Everlasting, who initially reacts with mistrust but later comes to regard her as a sister. Licorice is presented as a mysterious figure even to herself, caught up in events beyond her immediate understanding. Her notable abilities include her authority and resources as a royal knight, as well as the practical support provided by Pamu. She does not demonstrate any exceptional sorcery or combat prowess, relying instead on her duties, her companion, and her personal determination. Over the course of the series, she remains a steady, if occasionally hapless, presence among the main group, and her loyalty and gentle nature help solidify her place within the cast.
