Description
Ambient is a fictional character from the anime series Zoids: Guardian Force, which is the second half of the Zoids: Chaotic Century storyline. He is an Organoid, a rare and powerful mechanical lifeform, and serves as the partner to the main antagonist, Hiltz. Ambient is recognized by his crimson red body and dragon-like appearance, which sets him apart from other Organoids like Zeke or Shadow.

In terms of background, Ambient is an ancient being who was present during the time of the original Death Saurer thousands of years before the main events of the series. At some point before the series begins, Ambient was discovered and released by Raven's parents. Upon being freed, Ambient attacked them, resulting in their deaths, an event witnessed by a young Raven who was unable to stop the Organoid. Ambient later became aligned with Hiltz, an Ancient Zoidian with a genocidal agenda against humanity. The Organoid accompanies Hiltz throughout the series, supporting his master's destructive plans without any indication of being forced to do so.

Ambient's personality closely mirrors that of his master, Hiltz. He is depicted as cunning, manipulative, and utterly ruthless. He shows no remorse for harming or killing others and appears to carry out violent acts without hesitation, revealing a sadistic nature. Unlike some other Organoids that form bonds of friendship with their partners, Ambient's relationship with Hiltz is more pragmatic, defined by their shared goals rather than any personal affection. He displays a clear dislike for the protagonist's Organoid, Zeke, as well as Shadow and Specula, the Organoids belonging to Raven and Reese respectively.

As an Organoid, Ambient possesses several remarkable abilities common to his kind, including flight, the power to fuse with a Zoid's core, and the ability to heal or resurrect damaged Zoids. However, Ambient has unique and advanced capabilities that make him exceptionally dangerous. He possesses the power to "mutate" the Zoids he fuses with, causing instantaneous and drastic physical changes. For example, when Ambient fuses with a standard Zoid like a Gun Sniper or Stealth Viper, it transforms, turning red and growing new weapons such as spike missiles and extendable arm bars. More significantly, Ambient can manipulate Zoid cores in subtle ways to influence Zoid evolution and can even fuse multiple Zoid cores together. Hiltz used Ambient's power to combine the cores of two ancient scorpion-type Zoids, creating the monstrous Death Stinger. Unlike other Organoids such as Shadow, who had a strict time limit for fusion, Ambient appears to have no such limitations and can maintain fusion with even incredibly volatile cores for extended periods.

Ambient plays a crucial role in the story as Hiltz's primary instrument for enacting his schemes. He is instrumental in the creation of the Death Stinger, the series' ultimate weapon, which goes on a rampage across the planet. In a key moment, after the Death Stinger is critically damaged by a gravity cannon, Ambient fuses with it to revive the colossal Zoid and allow it to continue its assault. During the final confrontation, Ambient is absorbed into the Death Stinger's core alongside Hiltz as the Zoid merges with the core of the original Death Saurer. While Hiltz is physically seen fused to the core, Ambient is not, and his ultimate fate is ambiguous. Following the defeat of Hiltz and the Death Saurer, Ambient is not seen again, leaving his survival an open question. Throughout the series, Ambient does not undergo significant personal development, remaining a consistently malevolent force that operates from the shadows, content to let Hiltz lead while using his unique powers to further their shared destructive vision.
