Description
Daisuke Domoto, also known as D.D., is an intergalactic police officer whose mission goes drastically wrong. During a routine assignment to deliver six dangerous creature eggs known as Maguar, one of the eggs hatches prematurely inside his spacecraft. The resulting chaos causes the ship to lose control, forcing it to crash on Earth. During the turbulent entry, the remaining unhatched eggs are scattered across the Hokkaido region.

D.D. is characterized by his strong sense of duty and responsibility as an officer. His professional demeanor is put to the test when he realizes he cannot contain the Maguar threat on his own; after a direct battle with a newborn Maguar leaves him outmatched, he must rely on outside help. This leads him to recruit the young girl Tsubasa and her alien companion Hikaru, who can fuse together to become a powerful being known as Figure 17. Pragmatic and adaptable, D.D. understands the necessity of this alliance for the safety of Earth.

To maintain a low profile while he continues his mission and awaits backup from his own people, D.D. adopts a human disguise. He cuts and dyes his naturally green hair black and assumes the alias of Daisuke Domoto, a photographer supposedly studying the landscapes of Hokkaido. This cover story allows him to move through the local community without raising suspicion. He is also skilled in memory manipulation, a power he uses to protect his identity and the secret of his mission. When his cover is eventually blown, he employs this ability on Tsubasa's father, implanting a false memory that Hikaru is Tsubasa's long-lost twin sister to explain her sudden presence in the household.

His primary role in the story is that of a mentor and strategic ally to Tsubasa and Hikaru. While he provides critical support and information about the Maguar creatures, he is not the central hero; instead, he acts as a coordinator who recognizes and respects the unique power that the two girls possess. His key relationships are formed within the Shiina household, where he comes to live as a boarder. This living situation deepens his bond with Tsubasa and her father, grounding his mission in the reality of a peaceful human life he is sworn to protect.

Over the course of the narrative, D.D. grows from a lone operative simply trying to contain a crisis into a more collaborative and emotionally connected individual. His experience on Earth, particularly his interactions with Tsubasa, influences him. In the end, despite the standard protocol for such situations, he makes the personal choice not to erase Tsubasa's memories of the events. This decision signifies a profound respect for the bond they formed and marks his development from a by-the-book officer to someone who values the human connections he made. In his alien form, he possesses the ability to fight in a Figure armor, though it is less powerful than the fused form of Figure 17. His notable abilities include his combat skills as a police officer, his proficiency with alien technology, and his capacity for mental manipulation.
