Ecco, also known as Reiko Kanonzaki, is a significant character in the Corrector Yui series. He is identified as Corrector Software No. 4, serving in the role of The System Maintainer. His designation as a Corrector means he is one of eight specialized programs created by the scientist Professor Inukai to protect and regulate the ComNet, the global computer network. His appearance is that of a young boy, roughly seven years old, dressed in a manner befitting his role.
Ecco possesses a rebellious and childish personality, often behaving in a manner consistent with a young, headstrong child. His most defining trait is his profound love for nature and animals, which directly reflects his core function as the System Maintainer for the environment. This passion is so intense that he despises any form of destruction or desecration of nature. He is known to become extremely agitated by actions such as littering or setting fires in natural simulations, and has gone so far as to kidnap those who litter on the rainforest simulation he inhabits.
His primary motivation stems from his duty to protect the natural world within the ComNet. This dedication initially fuels a deep-seated resentment toward his creator, Professor Inukai. Ecco believed the Professor had abandoned him, leaving him isolated in the rainforest simulation. This feeling of abandonment shaped his initial distrust and hostility toward others. However, his perspective begins to change upon meeting the protagonist, Yui Kasuga. Through her, he learns that Professor Inukai actually cared for him deeply and placed him in the rainforest for his own safety, leading to a reconciliation with his past and a more open attitude toward humans.

When Yui harnesses Ecco’s abilities, she can access the Water Element Suit. He also has a noted conflict with another Corrector, Synchro, after Synchro, in his corrupted form as War Wolf, burned down Ecco’s forest. This grudge is eventually resolved with Yui's mediation.
