Description
Chin-Yun Li is a recurring character in Beyblade: Metal Masters, where he serves as a member of the Chinese representative team, Wang Hu Zhong. He holds the position of vice-leader within the team and is a proud product of the Beylin Temple, having been raised and trained there alongside his close friend and team leader, Dashan Wang.

In terms of appearance, Chin-Yun is one of the youngest and smallest characters in the series, which can be surprising given his otherwise serious and intense demeanor. He has peach skin and reddish-brown eyes, with dark blue hair that he ties back into a Manchu-style braided ponytail. His attire is traditional and formal, consisting of a purple changshan with red trim and yellow cuffs, featuring a dark orange circle with a red gecko design. He completes this outfit with white pants, brown and purple boots, and a distinctive hat resembling Qing Dynasty official headgear, which is purple with a yellow trim and a red interior topped with a small green ball. He also wears a green jade prayer bead necklace.

Chin-Yun Li has a personality defined by his seriousness and intensity as a blader. He is very talkative when representing his team, frequently speaking for Wang Hu Zhong when Dashan is not present, and notably tends to refer to himself in the third person. Above all, he desires a challenging battle and is not above taunting his opponents to provoke them into fighting at their full strength, as he believes this unlocks their true potential. This competitive drive is balanced by a deep sense of loyalty; he is extremely devoted to his country, China, and holds his mentor and best friend, Dashan Wang, in the highest regard. This loyalty also makes him critical of his own teammate, Chao Xin, whom he views as cocky and dishonorable due to his lack of dedication to the Beylin Temple's training regimen.

Chin-Yun’s role in the story begins before the World Championships, when he and teammate Mei-Mei travel to Japan to scout the competition. There, he engineers a trap to test the skills of Gingka Hagane and Masamune Kadoya, displaying overwhelming strength in a tag-team battle. Throughout the tournament arc, he acts as a fierce rival to the Japanese team, GanGan Galaxy, particularly targeting Tsubasa Otori. In their first major match, Chin-Yun is initially disappointed by Tsubasa’s lack of aggression. His relentless taunting pushes Tsubasa to unleash a mysterious dark power that overwhelms Chin-Yun’s Thermal Lacerta, though Tsubasa ultimately self-destructs, handing the victory to Chin-Yun. After his team is eliminated from the main tournament by GanGan Galaxy, they re-enter through a consolation tournament. Chin-Yun also participates in the subsequent tournament, the Big Bang Bladers, where he faces the blader Klaus from Team Excalibur. Despite fighting hard out of a desire to create his own legacy, he is soundly defeated.

Chin-Yun demonstrates notable development in his perspective on legacy and strength. Initially defined by the long history of the Beylin Temple and his admiration for Dashan, he grows to want to forge his own path and create a new legacy for himself and his team. His key relationships are central to his character. His bond with Dashan Wang is his primary motivation and source of inspiration. He shares a reliable partnership with his teammate Mei-Mei. Conversely, his relationship with the flashy and independent Chao Xin is tense, as their philosophies on proper blading etiquette clash. Despite his initial hostility toward GanGan Galaxy, he develops a deep respect for them, ultimately becoming an ally and supporting their journey to victory in the final championship.

As a blader, Chin-Yun wields the Beyblade Thermal Lacerta WA130HF. This attack-type beyblade houses the spirit of a lizard, and its special moves draw heavily on themes of speed, slashing strikes, and swordsmanship. His finishing moves include Lizard One-Hundred Violent Slashes, also known as Tempestuous Whirlwind Sword, which summons a pink aura around Lacerta to slash at opponents with tremendous force. Other techniques in his arsenal include Solid Iron Wall, Thunder Sword Waltz, and Piercing Brink Strike.
