Description
Keyser is an antagonist in the anime Beyblade: Metal Fury, serving as a member of the Nemesis Bladers, a group of warriors who act as opposites to the Legendary Bladers and seek to revive the god of destruction, Nemesis, in order to take control of the world. His background is largely mysterious, but it is known that he was discovered and brought into the service of Pluto, a descendant of the ancient Hades civilization, by the minion Doji.
In terms of appearance, Keyser has black hair and a metallic black mask that covers most of his face, giving him an insect-like look reminiscent of a mosquito. He wears a blue jumpsuit with a brown belt and bandages wrapped around his arms, and he also sports a purple scarf that resembles the wings of a mosquito. The design of his mask and overall aesthetic reinforce his thematic connection to his Beyblade and its namesake.
Keyser's personality is not extensively detailed, but as a Nemesis Blader, his primary motivation is to serve Rago, the master of Nemesis, and to stop the Legendary Bladers from preventing the deity's revival. He is one of three warriors, alongside Herschel and Cycnus, who are specifically brought by the henchman Johannes to act as protectors of Rago. His role in the story is as an obstacle for the protagonists, engaging in battles against them to further the goals of his faction.
Key relationships include his allegiance to Pluto and Rago, as well as his partnership with his fellow Nemesis Bladers, with whom he is often seen battling the Legendary Bladers. He does not have a significant personal rivalry with any specific character. Regarding development, Keyser is a relatively static and minor antagonist who appears in the latter part of the series. A notable aspect of his character is his lack of success in battle; he has never won a single on-screen battle. For instance, he participated in a tag battle alongside Herschel against the bladers Yu, King, and Masamune, which resulted in a loss. He is also noted as the only Nemesis Blader who does not wield a Beyblade equipped with a 4D system, a more advanced type of top in the series.
Keyser's notable abilities are tied directly to his Beyblade, which is named Bakushin Beelzeb T125XF. The Beyblade is designed as an Attack-Type, with its name and insectoid motif drawing from the constellation Musca (the Fly), as Keyser is named after the Dutch navigator Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser who created the constellation. The Bakushin Fusion Wheel is known for having high recoil but lacks the weight to deliver powerful smash attacks, while its Performance Tip, Extreme Flat (XF), provides very fast and aggressive movement across the stadium. The spirit or beast inhabiting the Beyblade is a mosquito, fitting his theme. Despite being a servant of Nemesis, Keyser's personal power is limited, and he is often portrayed as being outclassed by the Legendary Bladers and their allies.
