Description
Chi Yun, known in Japan as Chiyun Li, is a character from the Metal Saga, with his most prominent role in the series Beyblade: Metal Masters, though he continues to appear in Beyblade: Metal Fury. During the events of Metal Fury, he remains a key member of the Chinese team Wang Hu Zhong. Physically, Chi Yun is one of the youngest and smallest characters in the series. He has dark blue hair tied back in a distinctive Manchu-style braided ponytail. His attire is traditional, consisting of a purple changshan with red and yellow trim, a dark orange circle featuring a red gecko symbol, and a green jade prayer bead necklace. He completes his look with white pants, brown and purple boots, and a hat resembling Qing Dynasty official headgear, which is purple with a yellow trim and a small green ball on top.

Chi Yun's personality is defined by a serious and intense demeanor, especially when it comes to Beyblading. He has a strong desire for a genuine challenge and is not above taunting his opponents to provoke them into unleashing their full potential. Despite his small stature, he commands respect and projects an air of authority, often acting as the spokesman for his team in the absence of their leader, Dashan Wang. A notable verbal quirk is his habit of referring to himself in the third person. His pride is closely tied to his national heritage and his team. He is fiercely loyal to China and holds his teammate Dashan in the highest regard, viewing him as an inspiration. This loyalty makes him distrustful of those he perceives as disloyal, such as his teammate Chao Xin, whose independent nature clashes with Chi Yun's values.

Chi Yun was raised and trained at the Beylin Temple in China, a background that heavily influences his fighting style. In Metal Fury, following the World Championships, Chi Yun and Wang Hu Zhong return to the Beylin Temple. Their role in this arc becomes that of supporters and allies to the main protagonist, Gingka Hagane. When Gingka seeks out potential Legendary Bladers who have been chosen by a star fragment, he contacts Chi Yun's team, believing that Dashan might be one of them. Chi Yun is surprised by this notion, and the team assists in the search, although it is ultimately determined that Dashan is not a Legendary Blader, as his Beyblade does not evolve like those of the chosen ones. Chi Yun also shows a reluctance to recognize newer or less experienced Bladers, initially refusing to acknowledge a novice named Yuuki as a legendary blader until after a defeat forces him to reconsider his stance.

The most significant relationship in Chi Yun's life is with Dashan Wang, the leader of Wang Hu Zhong. Dashan is not only his best friend but also his inspiration. Chi Yun was once a failing student at Beylin Temple, but after meeting Dashan, he found the strength to improve and dedicated himself to his friend's dreams as if they were his own. Chi Yun sees Dashan as a mentor figure and is incredibly loyal to him. His primary motivation is to uphold the honor of China and to create a new legacy for his team, aspiring to follow in the footsteps of powerful Blazers who came before him. He is driven by a desire to prove his own strength and to carry the hopes of his team, often feeling the pressure to lead them to victory in crucial matches.

Chi Yun develops throughout his appearances, learning to handle defeat with grace. His encounter with the protagonist Gingka teaches him to take losses lightly and continue to move forward, a lesson he embraces. While he initially dislikes his teammate Chao Xin for being dishonorable, he eventually learns to work alongside him for the good of the team. His confidence can sometimes border on overconfidence, a trait that occasionally leads him into difficult situations in battle. Ultimately, he grows from a fierce but narrow-minded Blader into a more resilient and team-oriented competitor.

In battle, Chi Yun uses the Beyblade Thermal Lacerta WA130HF, a Balance-type Beyblade. Its beast is the Lizard, and its performance is noted for having great speed and attack power. His fighting style is based on the ancient martial arts forms he learned at the Beylin Temple. He is capable of performing powerful special moves, most notably the Lizard One-Hundred Violent Slashes, known in Japanese as Sekieki Hyakuretsuzan. His Beyblade's track features blades that can shape wind into sharp, cutting waves, allowing him to attack with invisible air blades. Other techniques in his arsenal include the Circular Dance Lightning Sword, the Whirlwind Fierce Kick Slash, and combination attacks with his partners, such as the Heaven and Earth First Formation with Mei Mei and the Heaven Conquering Ruination Palm with Dashan.
