Description
Pet is a small, squirrel-like companion animal who becomes part of the main traveling group in Ixion Saga DT. He has no fixed name, and different members of the group call him by names of their own choosing, while the protagonist Kon refers to him simply as Pet. After being found and taken in by the traveling party, he appears early on as a quiet and harmless creature, and beginning around the third episode he is given the task of keeping watch over Kon, accompanying the group as they travel and becoming a regular presence in the party.
His true nature is that of an Alma life-form, a spirit-like being that materializes in the physical world through Alma energy. He was dispatched by Almaflora, who sent him to observe Kon and gather information on his movements. To carry out this mission, he keeps a small radio hidden in his pouch and uses it to contact Almaflora regularly, reporting the group's activities and location.
In personality, Pet initially comes across as a mute pet, but this changes partway through the series when he begins to speak. Once he starts talking, he proves to be very talkative and chatty, and his constant chatter is portrayed as annoying by those around him. His verbal and talkative manner forms a sharp contrast with his earlier silent behavior.
His role in the story is double-sided. Within the group, he is treated as a small animal companion who shares their travels and everyday life. In reality, he functions as an agent planted among them, secretly relaying information about Kon to Almaflora.
