Description
Erazor, known as Semimaru in the original Japanese version, is a character from the anime Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL II who serves as a minor antagonist aligned with the Barian World. His history begins long before the main events of the series, as he originally lived as a criminal in the underworld Dueling scene, where he was associated with Mr. Heartland. After dying from unknown causes, Erazor was eventually reincarnated as a Barian, a member of the seven-armed race from the Barian World, and was later summoned by the Barian deity Don Thousand to aid Mr. Heartland in his mission to retrieve the powerful Number cards.

In terms of appearance, Erazor has a distinct and unsettling design. In his human form, he has gray skin and a bald head, though he has a small amount of hair on the back of his head. He wears a brown sleeveless jacket over a dark shirt, black pants, dark sunglasses, and a necklace. His true form, which he reveals during battle, is that of a large, bipedal humanoid insect closely resembling a cicada. This form features a hard brown exoskeleton, insect wings, a proboscis for a mouth, and a red skull plate on his forehead.

Erazor's personality is defined by cruelty and a love for causing suffering. He is extremely malicious and takes great pleasure in draining the memories from his victims, describing the experience as tasting like the sweetest honey. He appears laid-back and casual about his cruel duties, often filing his nails and showing a particular enjoyment of watching his victims squirm as he steals their minds. He has a habit of pushing his glasses up his nose and licking his lips, and he frequently refers to his enemies, especially the protagonist Yuma Tsukumo and his ally Trey, with the insult gaki, which is a Japanese term for a brat or a mischievous child.

Erazor possesses several notable abilities, both as a Duelist and as a Barian entity. His primary supernatural power is the ability to physically devour the memories of other people, leaving his victims in a comatose state as their recollections are erased. As a Barian, he can also summon the emblem of Don Thousand during a Duel, a crest that allows him to halve the Life Points of his opponents and add that exact amount to his own Life Points, creating a significant advantage before the game even properly begins.

In the story of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL II, Erazor is a key member of a group known as the Fearsome Four of the Dark Dueling World. After being summoned by Don Thousand following the defeat of the entity Number 96: Dark Mist, Erazor returns to Earth to carry out his mission. His primary role is to serve as a direct subordinate to Mr. Heartland, assisting him in luring Yuma Tsukumo into a trap. Erazor begins his attack on the human world by preying on numerous Duelists, stealing their memories with no regard for their well-being. This includes the members of the Super Secret Number Card Investigation Club, Yuma's close circle of friends, which prompts Yuma to take action. When Yuma arrives at Mr. Heartland's hideout to confront him, Erazor challenges both Yuma and Trey to a Tag Duel. Using a device provided by Mr. Heartland, he starts the Duel with double his normal Life Points while his opponents begin with only half of theirs. Despite this massive disadvantage, Yuma and Trey work together to defeat Erazor, using a combination of Number 6: Chronomaly Atlandis and the cards Reservation Reward and Double or Nothing! to secure victory. Following his defeat, Erazor vanishes, and his own Number card, Number 3: Cicada King, is taken by Trey.

Erazor's key relationship is with his superior, Mr. Heartland, who he worked with in the past and continues to serve loyally in the present. Their history as associates in the underworld Dueling crime scene establishes a foundation of trust and shared purpose. While he takes orders from Heartland, Erazor also shows a degree of independence, as he engages in his memory-stealing rampage as a warm-up rather than strictly focusing on their primary objective of capturing Yuma's Numbers. His primary adversary is Yuma Tsukumo, whom he dismisses as a brat, as well as Trey, with whom he duels directly. Erazor shows little development over his brief appearance, remaining a static villain whose sole purpose is to demonstrate the threat of the Barian forces and to be defeated by the protagonists, showcasing their growth in his ability to work with a Tag partner even under extreme pressure.

As a Duelist, Erazor uses a Cicada Deck, a strategy that reflects his own monstrous true form. His deck is focused on swarming the field with monster cards and utilizing defensive tactics to protect his life points and key cards. His ace monster and signature card is Number 3: Cicada King, a powerful Xyz Monster that serves as the centerpiece of his strategy. His personal techniques are directly tied to his deck theme, using insect-based monsters and trap cards to control the flow of the Duel.
