Description
Christopher Arclight, also known by the alias Quinton, is a major character in the second series of Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal. He is the eldest son of Byron Arclight, who later takes the name Vetrix, and the older brother of Trey and Quattro. His background is rooted in tragedy; as a teenager, he assisted his father in scientific research involving parallel dimensions alongside Dr. Faker. When an experiment went wrong, Byron was transformed into a childlike, vengeful being after being betrayed by Faker. Following this event, Christopher adopted the name Quinton and, along with his brothers, received a mystical crest from his father that grants supernatural abilities but carries the risk of falling into a comatose state if he loses a Duel while wielding a powerful Number card.
In terms of personality, Quinton is the most rational, calm, and stoic member of the Vetrix Family. He is deeply dedicated to his father's cause of revenge against Dr. Faker, which initially makes him appear cold, ruthless, and highly egotistical during Duels. He displays an intense hatred for Faker and, by extension, Kite Tenjo, whom he views as an agent of the man who ruined his family. Despite this hardened exterior, he retains a core of maturity and protectiveness toward his younger brothers, often keeping their more brash impulses in check. Before his family's downfall, he was gentle and looked after Trey and Quattro, even promising to teach them how to Duel.
Quinton's primary motivation throughout most of the story is to exact revenge on Dr. Faker for the suffering inflicted upon his father. He is fully committed to Vetrix's plan, which includes stealing the powers of Hart Tenjo, Kite's younger brother, to further their goals. His role in the narrative is that of a strategic and powerful antagonist. He is responsible for capturing Hart and transporting him to Vetrix using his crest's mind-control abilities. He also has a significant personal connection to Kite Tenjo, having once lived with him and taught him how to Duel for the purpose of protecting Hart. This history creates a complex dynamic of a betrayed mentor and his former student. After his father returns to his original, benevolent personality, Quinton abandons his vengeful traits and eventually develops faith in Yuma Tsukumo and Kite to save his family.
Quinton possesses several notable abilities. His crest, located on his forehead, allows him to perform telekinesis and take control of other people, as demonstrated when he manipulates Hart Tenjo. In Dueling, he is a formidable tactician who uses a Space-themed Deck. During his time as a mentor, he was extremely strict, once engaging Kite in a multi-day Duel without rest to push him to his limits. His key relationships are with his father, Vetrix, to whom he is fiercely loyal, and his younger brothers, Trey and Quattro, whom he supervises and protects. His connection to Kite is one of the most developed, moving from a mentor-student bond to bitter enmity before eventually reconciling.
