Description
Don Thousand is the divine ruler of the Barian World and the primary antagonist of the final story arc. In the distant past, he resided in the Astral World but was cast out when that realm decided to abandon the power of Chaos. This banishment led to a cataclysmic battle with Astral, a conflict that ended with Don Thousand being sealed away in the Sea of Ill Intent within the Barian World. During this ancient struggle, he embedded a fragment of his malice into Astral, which would eventually manifest as the malevolent entity Number 96: Dark Mist. As part of the seal that bound him, seven Legendary Number cards were placed in ruins across the Earth, with his remaining power being used to reincarnate seven humans connected to these ruins as the Seven Barian Emperors, all to serve his future agenda.

In terms of personality, Don Thousand is characterized by a direct and commanding presence, typically addressing matters at hand without unnecessary deviation. He is highly perceptive and manipulative, demonstrating a deep understanding of the desires and loathing of others, particularly Vector. While he is not above issuing threats, he does so not out of sadism but from a calculated concern for advancing his own machinations. He can be enigmatic and cryptic, often withholding critical information and revealing it only when it suits his purpose. Ultimately, he is depicted as a malevolent and vengeful being, whose centuries of planning and lack of redeeming qualities establish him as the fundamental source of evil within the story's universe.

Don Thousand's primary motivation is the destruction of the Astral World, the realm that rejected him for embracing Chaos. To achieve this, he seeks to regain his full power and then some, aiming to fuse the Human World and the Barian World together. This fusion would amplify his power a thousandfold, providing him with enough strength to annihilate his former home. The protagonist Yuma Tsukumo and his partner Astral stand as the main obstacles to this goal, as their quest to collect the Number cards also directly interferes with Thousand's resurrection and plans.

Throughout the story, Don Thousand operates from the shadows, manipulating others to act on his behalf. His most significant relationship is with Vector, the treacherous Barian Emperor. After being released from his seal, Thousand merges with Vector, sharing his body and empowering him with new abilities. However, this is a controlling relationship, with Thousand demonstrating the ability to physically harm Vector, such as by grabbing his heart, to ensure compliance. He is also the creator and former master of Number 96: Dark Mist, viewing it as a fragment of his own being that was used to further his plans. Furthermore, he is the unseen architect behind the tragic pasts of all Seven Barian Emperors, having manipulated the circumstances of their deaths and corrupted their memories to reincarnate them as his servants.

The character undergoes a notable development in his physical form and role. Initially appearing as a shadowy, demonic figure bound within Vector, his ultimate goal is to achieve full revival. This is realized when the necessary conditions are met, allowing him to absorb Vector and emerge in a new, more radiant form. Shedding his dark armor, he assumes a golden-haired, almost divine appearance, reflecting his ascension to a god-like state after fusing the two worlds and obtaining the power of the Numeron Code. At this point, he directly confronts his enemies in a final Duel, showcasing the full extent of his abilities.

Don Thousand possesses a vast array of supernatural and dueling abilities. As the god of the Barian World, even in a weakened and sealed state, he can possess other Barians, heal their injuries, and grant them new powers. His influence has a corrupting effect, making those under his sway more malicious. He can manifest multiple fragments of his consciousness simultaneously, allowing him to influence events in different locations at once. A key power is his ability to create millions of counterfeit Number cards, which he uses to sow chaos and empower his minions. In his final Duel, his abilities become even more formidable; he is able to freely rewrite the effects of cards to his advantage and wields the power of the Numeron Code. His signature strategy involves a Numeron Deck, which allows him to summon monsters of immense power, including Number C1000: Numeronius with 10,000 attack points, and ultimately, Number iC1000: Numeronius Numeronia, a creature of god-like statistics.
