Description
Jaco is a member of the Galactic Patrol, an organization dedicated to upholding peace and justice throughout the universe. He proudly considers himself a super-elite member of this group, though his actual track record and the opinions of his superiors often paint a different picture. His full name is Jaco Teirimentenpibosshi, and he is also known on Earth as the Mask Man. Physically, Jaco is a short, humanoid alien with a light blue head, a purple scalp, yellow eyes, and a purple body. Standing at 148 centimeters, he is sensitive about his height and reacts very negatively to anyone who calls him short.

Jaco's personality is a mix of bravado, anxiety, and a surprisingly strong sense of duty. He takes immense pride in his work and frequently declares his elite status, yet he is also quite klutzy, tends to panic easily, and can come across as somewhat blank or obtuse. He once offered to use an Extinction Bomb, a weapon capable of wiping out all humanity, simply because a human companion criticized the species, demonstrating a casual approach to extreme solutions. While he can be cowardly and tries to avoid dangerous situations, especially when facing overwhelmingly powerful foes like Frieza or Beerus, he is also capable of acts of bravery and cleverness, particularly when his duty to protect his assigned sector, Earth, is on the line.

Jaco's primary motivation in the film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F is to fulfill his duty as a Galactic Patrolman. He travels to Earth specifically to warn his old friend Bulma that the evil emperor Frieza has been resurrected and is leading an army of one thousand soldiers to the planet for revenge against Goku. Initially, his plan is only to deliver the warning and then evacuate, but Bulma successfully convinces him to stay and fight. He participates in the battle against Frieza's army, using his tactical skills and ray gun to defeat several soldiers alongside the Z-Fighters. When Frieza himself enters the fray, Jaco decides he has done enough, acknowledging that his superiors would never expect him to challenge the evil emperor.

Jaco has a long-standing history with the Briefs family, making his connection to the main cast unique. He first met Bulma when she was a five-year-old genius who repaired his damaged spaceship after he crashed on Earth during a previous mission. He is also close with Bulma's sister, Tights, who is a main character in his own prequel manga. During the events of Resurrection F, Jaco expresses shock and frustration upon learning about time travel, considering it a serious violation of galactic law when Bulma nonchalantly mentions her son Future Trunks did it. He is also skeptical of the existence of Beerus, the God of Destruction, dismissing the deity as a myth until he sees him in person. Upon witnessing Goku's incredible power, he is stunned, and when Bulma reveals that Goku and her husband Vegeta are actually Saiyans, Jaco decides to pretend he did not hear it, as it was originally his job to keep Earth free of Saiyans and reporting it would create too much paperwork.

Jaco's role in the story is primarily that of a supporting character who provides comic relief, exposition, and a different perspective from the powerful Z-Fighters. He serves as a link to the wider universe and its laws. While he does not undergo significant character development within the film itself, his decision to join the fight, even reluctantly, shows a commitment to his role as Earth's protector. He also demonstrates a pragmatic and somewhat self-preserving side, choosing to ignore Whis's time manipulation and the presence of Saiyans on Earth to avoid trouble with his superiors, showing a flexible interpretation of galactic law.

In terms of abilities, Jaco is far weaker than the main Saiyan characters like Goku and Vegeta, but he is still competent compared to ordinary beings. He possesses enhanced vision and hearing, with his ears containing a "Galactic Receiver" that can hear sounds from great distances. He is also intelligent, having had all of the galaxy's languages programmed into his brain. His main form of flight comes from rockets on the soles of his boots, which he generally uses only for emergencies. He does not possess the ability to use ki for flight or energy blasts like the Earthling fighters. Instead, he relies on his physical strength, which is considerable enough to push a damaged spaceship and kill a giant shark, and his primary weapon is a powerful ray gun, which he wields with accuracy. During the battle with Frieza's forces, Jaco shows strategic cleverness, such as using the environment to defeat a group of soldiers by luring them into disturbing a giant sea creature.
