Description
Fremy Speeddraw is a central figure in the narrative, a young woman whose frail appearance belies a deadly past and a unique, volatile power. She is distinguished by her white skin and long white hair, with a leather cape and clothing that suit her wandering, solitary nature. Her most prominent features are the eyepatch covering her right eye and a black cloth worn on her forehead. The eyepatch conceals the unnatural color of her right eye, while the cloth hides a scar from a broken horn, permanent marks of her unconventional origins. Her visible left eye is a pale, almost transparent blue, and its gaze is typically cold and filled with distrust.
Fremy’s background is the most unusual among the chosen Braves, as she is the world’s only half-human, half-kyouma hybrid. She was created as part of an experiment by the fiend commander Tgurneu, who ordered a kyouma to evolve to copulate with a human. Her human father was killed after her mother became pregnant, and Fremy was raised among the kyouma, believing herself to be one of them. To prove her worth, she devoted herself to carrying out the army's orders, most notably assassinating powerful warriors and Saints who had the potential to become future Braves. This earned her the ominous public title of the Six Flowers Killer. Her mission to eliminate strong candidates was intended to ensure the God of Fate would have only weak heroes to choose from, leading to the Majin's victory. This career as an assassin ended when she failed to kill Chamo Rosso, a tremendously powerful child Saint. Fremy barely escaped with her life, and upon her return, she was deemed useless. Her own mother and the other kyouma turned on her, attempting to kill her.
This profound betrayal is the cornerstone of Fremy’s personality. Having lost the only world she knew, she resolved to kill the Majin in revenge and was subsequently chosen as one of the Six Braves. Her past has left her deeply distrustful of others, and she is quick to point her gun at anyone she suspects. Her demeanor is cold and aloof, a defense mechanism to prevent further hurt. However, this is a facade; beneath it lies a kind and caring individual who is simply unsure how to interact with humans, having been raised by kyouma. She lacks common knowledge of human society, such as the meaning of a white flag or the practice of naming pets. She also harbors a deep, paralyzing fear of Chamo following their previous encounter.
Fremy’s role in the story is that of a lethal sniper and a primary suspect when seven Braves appear at the destined meeting place instead of six. Her hybrid nature makes her an outsider, and her history as the Six Flowers Killer would mean certain death if discovered by the other heroes. Her initial plan was to travel to the kyouma territory and confront the Majin alone, but she was convinced to act differently by Adlet Mayer. The key relationship in her development is with Adlet, who becomes the first and only person she learns to trust. His persistent and sincere actions slowly break through her walls, and despite her denials, she develops strong feelings for him. In contrast, she suspects everyone else, including the princess Nashetania, the assassin Hans Humpty, and the leader of the Saints, Mora Chester.
Fremy’s character development is defined by her journey from complete isolation to accepting companionship. While she starts off unwilling to rely on anyone, her interactions with Adlet lead her to a pivotal emotional breakthrough. She eventually chooses to trust him, protecting him from another Brave and finally releasing the pent-up pain and loneliness she had carried for so long. Through him, she becomes willing to accept the rest of the Braves as comrades, just as they come to accept her despite her past.
Fremy's notability is cemented by her unique power. She is the Saint of Powder, a title not among the 78 officially known types of Saints, granted to her due to her unique heredity. As the only Saint not under the supervision of Mora, her power allows her to create explosives and gunpowder at will. She uses a gun, a weapon normally ineffective against kyouma, but her saintly power vastly amplifies the damage of her bullets, allowing her to kill most kyouma and armored humans with a single shot. She can also create smoke bombs and flares. Her primary weakness is her gun’s single-shot mechanism; she must reload after every shot, leaving her extremely vulnerable in close-quarters combat or when surrounded. This limitation has been exploited by an opponent who got within melee range to disable her weapon.
