Description
Koga de Pegaso is the central protagonist of Saint Seiya Omega, a spin-off series set in the twenty-first century. He is the Bronze Saint of the Pegasus constellation, inheriting the cloth once worn by the legendary Saint Seiya. Koga's origins are tied to a destructive cosmic event. As a baby, he was discovered in the aftermath of a massive meteor impact, a clash that involved the war god Mars and the previous Pegasus Saint. Saori Kido, the goddess Athena, adopted and raised him, and he was later trained in seclusion on an island by the Silver Saint Shaina of Ophiuchus. Initially reluctant to embrace the path of a Saint, Koga only fully committed himself after Saori was captured, setting him on a journey to rescue her.
Koga possesses a rebellious and straightforward personality, often acting on impulse, yet he is deeply kind-hearted and fiercely protective of his friends. He is extremely emotional and sentimental, though he tries hard to conceal this vulnerability. His most defining trait is his absolute refusal to accept defeat, which drives him to push past his limits time and again. His initial motivation to save Saori evolves into a broader mission to protect Earth from the war god Mars and later from the goddess Pallas and her elite warriors, the Pallasites.
Throughout the series, Koga undergoes significant growth. He initially wields the element of Light, but it is later revealed that his true innate Cosmo is that of Darkness, born from the explosion that gave him life. A key part of his development involves confronting and accepting this inner darkness, integrating it with his light to achieve a greater balance. In the second season, his power rises to the point where he is respected and feared as the God Slayer, having overcome powerful deities such as Abzu and Saturn. His cloth is upgraded and he ultimately awakens the ultimate cosmic power known as Omega.
Central to his story is his bond with Saori, who is both his goddess and his adoptive mother. He holds immense reverence for Pegasus Seiya, the legendary Saint who saved him as an infant, and strives to live up to that heroic legacy. He shares a profound and fated connection with Aria, a girl who was born from the same meteor as him and who represents the pure element of Light. His relationship with Eden of Orion begins as a bitter rivalry but eventually transforms into a strong alliance. Koga also forms a deep, unbreakable brotherhood with his fellow Bronze Saints, including Ryuho of the Dragon, Souma of the Lionet, Yuna of the Aquila, and Haruto of the Wolf.
As the Pegasus Saint, his signature technique is the Pegasus Meteor, a rapid barrage of powerful punches. He is unique in his mastery of both the Light and Darkness elements, which he learns to combine and unleash through techniques like the Omega Strike. His mastery of the Cosmo grants him access to the Seventh Sense and eventually the Eighth Sense, giving him the power to stand against and defeat gods.
