Description
Greip is a character who appears as a minor antagonist in the anime series Saint Seiya Omega. He is a Third-Class Pallasite, a soldier serving the goddess Pallas in her war against Athena and her Saints. His full title is Greip of the Deadly Scythe Soul Killer, reflecting his chosen weapon.
In terms of background, Greip is the twin brother of Cyllene, and together they are known for being a formidable duo. Greip has a young but lanky appearance with a somber expression, brown eyes, and dark blue or black hair that reaches his chest. He consistently wears his Chronotector, the specialized armor of the Pallasites, which provides him with enhanced protection and time-manipulating abilities.
Greip’s personality is defined by his violent, arrogant, and impulsive nature. Unlike his brother Cyllene, who is portrayed as more reserved, Greip is openly emotional and expresses his bloodthirsty joy in battle. He has a fierce competitive rivalry with his twin, stemming from their childhood, as both are determined to prove themselves the stronger fighter and be the first to earn a promotion to the rank of Second-Class Pallasite. This ambition overshadows any sense of true brotherly loyalty, as their relationship is based more on one-upmanship than genuine camaraderie.
Motivated primarily by self-interest and a desire for advancement within the Pallasite ranks, Greip is sent alongside Cyllene to intercept and eliminate the Bronze Saints who are traveling to the stronghold of Pallas Belda. They ambush the Wolf Haruto and Subaru on a beach and later in a forest, initially wounding Subaru. Greip’s role in the story is that of an obstacle, designed to test the Saints on their journey. His first confrontation ends in a tactical retreat when Haruto manages to injure him with the Wolf Gang Bite Plow technique, forcing Greip to flee.
Greip’s key relationship is with his twin brother, Cyllene. They fight almost exclusively as a pair, combining their powers for joint attacks. Their competitive nature, however, proves to be a weakness, as their desire to individually claim victory can be exploited by their enemies. They later reappear during the main battle for Pallas Belda, blocking the path to the castle in the city's underground sewers. This final encounter serves as the catalyst for the character Subaru, who dons the Equuleus Cloth for the first time. In this fight, the newly empowered Subaru defeats both Greip and Cyllene permanently, ending their rivalry and their lives.
Regarding notable abilities, Greip wields a massive scythe named Soul Killer. His primary individual technique is called Devil Blizzard, where he spins his scythe rapidly to generate a massive, tornado-like blizzard of destructive energy. When fighting alongside his brother, they can execute a more powerful combined technique known as Devil Twin Tempest. By joining their scythes and spinning them together, they create an enormous, devastating whirlwind. As a Pallasite, his power is intrinsically linked to his weapon, and his Chronotector armor provides him with protection that is directly tied to his authority as a Third-Class soldier.
