Description
Kôga de Pégase is the main protagonist of Saint Seiya Omega and the Bronze Saint of the Pegasus constellation, a role he inherits from the legendary Seiya. As an infant, Kôga was rescued by Seiya during a battle with the war god Mars, and he was subsequently taken in and raised by Saori Kido, the reincarnation of the goddess Athena. He spent his childhood training under the Silver Saint Shaina on a remote island, developing the foundation of his combat skills and his connection to the Cosmo.
Kôga begins the story as a rebellious and headstrong thirteen-year-old, often acting on impulse and letting his emotions guide his actions. He is compassionate at his core and deeply protective of those he cares about, but his early immaturity manifests as recklessness and a tendency to charge into conflicts without a clear plan. His primary motivation throughout the first major arc is to rescue Saori after she is kidnapped by Mars, a goal that gives him the determination to leave his isolated training ground and venture into the wider world.
In his role within the story, Kôga serves as the central figure around whom the new generation of Saints rallies. He is joined by fellow Bronze Saints such as Sôma de la Jeune Lyre, Yuna de l'Aigle, Ryûhô du Dragon, Haruto du Loup, and later Eden d'Orion. His relationship with Eden is particularly significant, as Eden is the son of Mars and initially an adversary; their clashes force Kôga to confront his own weaknesses and question his understanding of strength and justice. Kôga also shares a close bond with Aria, a girl who possesses a powerful Light Cosmo and is pursued by Mars. Aria's presence is a key factor in his development, as her fate deeply affects him and pushes him to grow beyond his initial narrow focus on rescue.
Throughout the series, Kôga undergoes substantial personal development. A pivotal turning point occurs when he discovers that his true Cosmo element is not Light, as he had always believed, but Darkness. This revelation shakes his confidence and forces him to accept a part of himself he had been unaware of. The Darkness element stems from the influence of the dark god Abzu, who had once used Kôga as a vessel. Overcoming this inner darkness and learning to control it becomes a central part of his growth. As the story progresses, he matures into a more composed and reliable warrior, earning the moniker God Slayer for his role in defeating powerful divine beings such as Abzu and Saturn.
Notable abilities include his mastery of the Pegasus constellation techniques, most prominently the Pegasus Ryûsei Ken, a rapid succession of powerful punches that can be delivered at long range, and the Pegasus Rolling Crash, a spinning attack that uses the opponent's own momentum against them. He also wields the Senkô Ken, a short-range lightning-fast punch. As a Saint of the Pegasus Cloth, he possesses immense physical strength, speed, and the capacity to burn his Cosmo to extraordinary levels, allowing him to challenge opponents far above his initial rank. His unique ability to use both Light and Darkness elements, once he fully accepts his dual nature, gives him a rare versatility in combat that proves decisive in his battles against gods.
