Description
Pallas is a goddess who appears as the central antagonist of the second season of the anime Saint Seiya Omega. In mythological ages, she shared an inseparable bond with Athena, to whom she is described as a sister, but she grew jealous of the closeness Athena developed with humanity. The rift between them led to a confrontation that ended with Pallas's death. In the present era, she accepts an offer from Saturn, the god of time, and is reborn so that she can take revenge on Athena and destroy the humans her sister loves. In her new incarnation, she first appears in the form of a young girl before rapidly growing into her full adult divine form. She resides in Pallasvelda, her fortress, and distinctive features of her appearance include a purple spiral marking on her left arm and golden rings around her ankles.
Pallas is driven heavily by emotion, particularly anger and resentment, which makes her unstable and volatile as a deity. Her feelings toward Athena are a profound love-hate mixture: she still longs for the closeness they once shared, yet she is consumed by jealousy and a desire to tear away everything Athena holds dear. Her hatred of humanity is ancient and deeply rooted, stemming from her belief that humans stole Athena's affection from her. At the same time, she craves love and connection, and she is genuinely surprised when others show her unexpected kindness or mercy.
Her primary motivation is vengeance against Athena and the annihilation of the humans her sister protects. To accomplish this, she leads the Pallasites, an army of warriors who wear Chronotectors, armors that grant them the power to interfere with time. Under her command, this force wages a massive war against Athena and her Saints, and her mere presence causes Athena's power to wane, weakening the goddess of wisdom during their conflict. Despite appearing to be the supreme leader of this army, Pallas is in truth a pawn of the first-class Pallasites, the Four Kings of Kronos, who have no real loyalty to her and use her as a puppet so that they can await the awakening of their true master, Saturn. The revelation that she is being manipulated is a key part of her story, as most of her own warriors never genuinely serve her.
Her most important relationship is with Athena, whose love and rejection define her entire existence. She also shares a deep bond with Titan, a first-class Pallasite who serves as her most loyal guardian and acts as her right hand; unlike the other commanders, Titan genuinely cares for her and protects her as she grows. Another significant connection is with the protagonist Kouga, who rejects her advances and emotional appeals, causing her to lose control of her powers and expose her true identity. The Gold Saint Seiya also plays a crucial role in her arc, as Athena instructs him to kill Pallas with a golden blade in order to sever the bond between the two goddesses and prevent another holy war, but he is unable to bring himself to commit the murder, much to Pallas's astonishment.
Over the course of the story, Pallas undergoes noticeable development. Under Titan's protection, she gradually matures and becomes less radical in her outlook, beginning to move beyond the consuming jealousy that defined her early personality. In her final confrontation with Athena, the two goddesses come to understand that their love for one another is stronger than their resentment, and Pallas ultimately accepts that she can share her love with humans rather than destroy them.
Pallas possesses several notable divine abilities. Divine Telekinesis allows her to concentrate telekinetic power in her eyes, which glow red, and rapidly reflect attacks back at her opponents. Divine Wrath causes her cosmos to expand without limit when she becomes enraged, creating an overwhelming pressure that makes it difficult to breathe and can destroy the surrounding area, a display of power that impresses even the Four Kings of Kronos. Divine Telepathy enables her to communicate over great distances using her cosmos. Divine Growth lets her absorb Athena's cosmos through a bracelet, causing her to mature and elevating her power to an even higher level. She also wears a Chrono Cloth created by Saturn, which closely resembles Athena's cloth in appearance and is equipped with the holy sword Eternal Recurrence, a weapon said to govern time and space as well as zero and infinity, and originally owned by Saturn himself.
