Description
Oriha Nashida is a 14-year-old middle school student who serves as the demolitions expert for the covert organization Black Label in the anime Triage X. In her public life, she works as a pop idol, and she is immediately recognizable by her short pink hair, blue eyes, and small frame. Despite her youth, she is a certified genius who entered an American university at age 11, and it was during that early academic career that she gained much of her knowledge of explosives and ordnance.
Her personality blends brilliance with a playful, almost childish demeanor. She has an easygoing and unpredictable manner that makes her hard to read, and she enjoys giving nicknames to her teammates. This lightheartedness, however, does not reflect a lack of commitment. Oriha takes her work for Black Label seriously and is highly competent in her field, approaching demolition and combat support with genuine skill and professionalism. She lives in an abandoned mansion that she has filled with explosive traps, a residence that reflects both her expertise and her unconventional nature.
Oriha's background carries a tragic undercurrent. Her mother was the celebrated national singer Saori Amano, and her father was reportedly killed as part of a conspiracy. These circumstances are part of her personal history in the series and help explain the path that led her into the dangerous world of Black Label.
In the story, Oriha is one of the main characters and a core operative of Black Label. Early on, she is assigned to a newly formed unit called Ampule 1 alongside the protagonist Arashi Mikami and fellow operative Mikoto Kiba. Within this team, she serves as the explosives specialist, providing heavy fire support and demolition during missions, such as destroying buildings that the group needs to eliminate in the course of its operations. Her relationships with her teammates are marked by her habit of assigning them nicknames, which adds a warm, casual dynamic to an otherwise grim line of work.
Her notable abilities center on demolitions and explosive weaponry. She uses a grenade launcher called the I★DOL BUSTER, along with large quantities of gunpowder and other explosives, which she herself describes as crude weapons. Her genius-level intellect, early university education, and technical knowledge of bombs make her one of the most distinctive and capable members of Black Label, and her dual life as a cheerful idol and a serious demolitions expert defines much of her role in the series.
