Description
Ami Mizuno is the civilian identity of Sailor Mercury, one of the inner Sailor Guardians who fight to protect their princess and the Earth from various supernatural threats. She lives with her mother, a successful doctor, as her parents are divorced; her father is an artist who travels the world. Exceptionally intelligent, she is often recognized as the intellectual core of the Sailor Guardians and the team’s strategist, scoring at the top of national exams with a prodigious intellect sometimes speculated to be an IQ of 300. Her dream is to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a doctor, specifically a pediatrician. Personality-wise, Ami is quiet, introverted, gentle, kind-hearted, and unfailingly polite. She is the calm and collected voice of reason, providing a rational and measured counterpoint to her more impulsive friends. Before befriending Usagi Tsukino, her shy and reserved nature was often mistaken for arrogance by classmates, leaving her isolated, but she has grown into a confident young woman who understands the value of friendship. Her key relationship is with Usagi, who was the first person to break through her shell; she shares similarly deep bonds with the other Sailor Guardians, often acting as a peaceful mediator. Her motivations are rooted in loyalty and the protection of her friends, and she is willing to sacrifice her life for Sailor Moon. In combat, as Sailor Mercury, she relies on a miniaturized supercomputer and analytical visor to analyze enemy weaknesses and devise battle strategies. Her powers are tied to water and ice, including attacks that create defensive mist or fog, such as Shabon Spray or Mercury Aqua Mist, as well as powerful offensive blasts like Shine Aqua Illusion. In later battles, she gains the ability to become Super Sailor Mercury, wielding attacks such as Mercury Aqua Rhapsody, where she creates a lyre of water to send forth melodic torrents of energy. Her calm demeanor, sharp mind, and unwavering loyalty make her an indispensable asset to the team.
