TV-Series
Description
Bridget, whose original Japanese name is Lettuce Midorikawa, is a central character in the anime series. She is a fourteen-year-old student who also works as a waitress at the Café Mew Mew. Bridget is known for being exceptionally shy, timid, and gentle-natured, often speaking in a very polite and formal manner. She struggles significantly with low self-confidence and is frequently taken advantage of by a group of girls at her school who bully her and treat her as a servant, which she tolerates because she desperately wants to have friends. This deep-seated fear of being alone and feeling like an outsider is a core part of her personality.

Bridget is the third member to be discovered and recruited into the team of heroines. Her DNA has been fused with that of a finless porpoise, a marine mammal, which grants her powers intrinsically linked to water. Initially, she is terrified and ashamed of her newfound abilities, believing they make her a freak and that she will never be accepted. This fear causes her powers to go out of control, and she begins attacking others at her school at night. It is only through the kindness and encouragement of her fellow Mew Mews, Ichigo and Mint, that she learns to see her powers not as a curse but as a part of who she is, allowing her to finally find the genuine friendship she always craved. This pivotal moment marks the beginning of her integration into the team and her work at the café.

Within the group, Bridget is a compassionate and selfless individual who dislikes conflict and would rather avoid fighting, though she will battle when necessary to protect her friends. Despite her clumsiness, which often leads to her breaking dishes at the café, she consistently tries her best. She develops particularly close bonds with her teammates, viewing the energetic Pudding as a little sister. In the anime, she harbors a secret crush on Ryou Shirogane, one of the creators of the Mew Project, who is kind and patient with her, understanding her need for encouragement. Over the course of the series, Bridget undergoes noticeable personal growth. Through the unwavering support of her new friends, she gradually becomes more confident and self-assured, learning to stand up for herself and embracing her role as a protector.

In terms of abilities, Bridget is unique in her control over water. As Mew Lettuce, she wields a pair of castanets as her primary weapon, which she uses to execute her signature attack, the Ribbon Lettuce Rush, creating powerful jets and slashes of water. Her most distinctive power is her connection to Mew Aqua, a special substance that allows her to transform her legs into a porpoise-like tail, turning her into a mermaid-like figure. In this form, she gains the ability to breathe underwater, swim at incredible speeds, and access more powerful aquatic attacks. Interestingly, despite her aquatic powers, she did not know how to swim before becoming a Mew Mew. Outside of combat, she is shown to be intelligent and studious, with hobbies that include reading and making dolls.
