Description
Puring Huang, also known as Mew Pudding, is one of the main heroines and the fourth member introduced into the Mew Mews team. She is a young elementary school student whose DNA has been merged with that of a golden lion tamarin, a small New World monkey. Her Chinese name, Huang Bu-Ling, can be interpreted as yellow bell, reflecting both her bright appearance and lively nature.

In terms of background, Puring is of Chinese descent, with her father being a Chinese martial arts master and her mother having worked as a trapeze artist. She lives in Japan and takes on significant household responsibilities at a young age, including cooking and cleaning, while caring for her younger siblings. Her upbringing combined martial arts training from her father and a deep admiration for her mother's acrobatic career, which shapes her dream of becoming a circus acrobat when she grows up. In the manga, she also owns a pet monkey named An-Nin, sometimes called Almond.

Her personality is the most playful and energetic of the group, matching her tamarin DNA perfectly. She is hyperactive, mischievous, and loves performing, often doing tricks and acrobatics in everyday situations, including while working as a waitress at the Cat Cafe. This frequently causes her to break things, and her behavior can be so childlike that her teammate Minto sometimes considers her immature. Despite her lighthearted exterior, she is capable of acting with maturity and responsibility, particularly when it comes to looking after her siblings or when the situation demands seriousness. In the Japanese version, she refers to herself in the third person and habitually ends sentences with a catchphrase, adding to her distinct, playful speech patterns.

Her motivations are centered on having fun, protecting her friends and the world, and pursuing her dream of becoming an acrobat. She approaches her duties as a Mew Mew with the same enthusiasm she brings to everything else, and her love for performing and making others happy drives much of her behavior. Her favorite foods include sweet chestnuts, pudding, and choux a la creme, while she dislikes Chinese onions.

Within the team, Puring serves as the youngest and most energetic presence, often acting as a source of comic relief and levity. Her relationships with the other Mew Mews reflect her affectionate and sociable nature, even when her immaturity frustrates the more refined members. Her greatest bond is with her family, and her responsibility toward her younger siblings reveals a more grounded side of her character. Over the course of the story, she shows development from a purely playful girl into someone who balances her cheerful nature with genuine courage and dedication to those she cares about, while still holding onto her youthful spirit and ambitions.

As Mew Pudding, her abilities are deeply tied to her monkey DNA. Her natural agility, balance, flexibility, speed, and endurance are greatly amplified in her transformed state, allowing her to perform superhuman acrobatic feats in combat. She is highly skilled in tumbling, balancing on a ball, dish spinning, and fire breathing, and she can even ride on a ball with ease. Her martial arts background gives her additional combat capability, and she is also a competent swimmer. In her transformed form, she gains the ability to communicate with monkeys, and her signature fighting style relies on quick, acrobatic movements that make her difficult to predict or catch. Her appearance as Mew Pudding features golden yellow hair, orange eyes, a yellow and orange outfit, a choker holding her Mew Pendant, and an orange monkey tail and ears, with a Mew Mark shaped like two monkey tails on her forehead. Later adaptations update her outfit and hairstyle while preserving the same energetic visual identity.
