Description
Brigiti is the name used for the character Lettuce Midorikawa in the Brazilian Portuguese dub of the anime, As Super Gatinhas. Understood as Bridgiti Verdant, she is the third member to join the team of heroines and her DNA is merged with that of a finless porpoise, a rare marine mammal related to dolphins. As a student, she is 13 or 14 years old and known for being very intelligent, especially in subjects like mathematics.
In her everyday life, Brigiti is characterized by her extreme shyness, timidity, and a significant lack of self-confidence. She is incredibly kind, polite, and always tries to do what she believes is right, but she is also very sensitive and easily influenced by others. At the start of the series, this insecurity causes her to be taken advantage of by a group of popular girls at her school who pretend to be her friends while ordering her around. She is notably clumsy, which often leads to her breaking plates while working at the Café Mew Mew, but she consistently tries her best despite her awkwardness. Brigiti is also an avid reader and enjoys making dolls as a hobby.
Her primary motivation throughout the story is her desire for genuine friendship and acceptance. Initially frightened and confused by her transformation powers, fearing she has become a freak, she attacks the other Mew Mews when they first encounter her. However, once she realizes that Ichigo, Mint, and the others truly care for her and will not exploit her kindness, she finds the courage to embrace her role. Her personal growth is centered on learning to assert herself and overcoming her low self-esteem, with her new friends providing the support system she never had.
Within the group, Brigiti shares a particularly close bond with Pudding, the youngest member, whom she views as a little sister. She also harbors a secret crush on her mentor and café manager, Ryo Shirogane, because he is consistently patient and encouraging with her, though she knows his feelings lie elsewhere. Her relationships outside the core team include an unspoken affection from Pai, one of the alien antagonists, who is drawn to her gentle nature.
A significant part of her development involves her struggle with the fact that she never learned to swim, which is a source of complex feelings given her aquatic DNA. This is resolved when she discovers her unique power over water. When transformed, her legs fuse into a porpoise tail, allowing her to transform into a mermaid-like form where she can breathe underwater and move with incredible speed. Her notable abilities are all water-based. She wields a pair of combat castanets as her weapon, which she uses to generate powerful geysers and whirlpools. Her signature attacks are known as the Tidalwave Attack and the Tsunami Attack, demonstrating her ability to create massive surges of water. While she dislikes fighting and prefers peace, she proves to be a capable and determined warrior when her friends or the Earth are in danger.
