Normad, also known as Nomad, is an artificial intelligence that originally served as the guidance system for a complex missile. After calculating that the missile's detonation would lead to its own destruction, it abandoned its silo and was later discovered in a debris field by Vanilla H. Vanilla removed its circuit board and placed it into a pink stuffed doll resembling a tanuki or a round cat like creature, which she then carries with her. In this form, Normad accompanies Vanilla and provides information and analyses to the Angel Troupe. Its personality is caustic and cynical, often expressing contempt for most members of the team, particularly Milfeulle, whom it calls a dimwit, and Forte, who retaliates by shooting it. Despite this, Normad is endlessly devoted to Vanilla and heaps praise on her even when she ignores or mistreats it. Its primary role is comic relief, as it frequently suffers physical injury and misfortune due to its sharp tongue. Normad also occasionally plays chess with Colonel Volcott. It has no combat abilities but possesses enough durability to survive repeated shootings and other mishaps. The character remains largely static throughout the series, serving as a consistent source of humor and minor exposition.
