Description
Nômado, whose name also appears as Nomad or Normad, is a supporting character in the anime version of Galaxy Angel. He is an artificial intelligence originally designed to guide missiles, built around a central processor rated at ten thousand gigahertz. To give him a physical presence, he is housed inside a small pink stuffed doll that resembles a tanuki, standing about forty centimeters tall. Although his outer form looks like a plain and somewhat awkward plush toy, the doll conceals an extremely powerful computer created through Lost Technology, the ancient scientific legacy that the Angel Troupe is regularly assigned to locate and handle. Nômado is exclusive to the anime adaptation and does not appear in the original game-based continuity.
In terms of personality, Nômado is boastful, sharp-tongued, and quick to mock others, a habit that repeatedly brings him trouble. He is utterly devoted to the quiet and reserved Vanilla H, whom he accompanies and serves directly. He constantly compliments Vanilla, declaring her beautiful and praising her at every opportunity, while at the same time belittling the other members of the Angel Troupe whenever he can. Because of his endless needling, he frequently ends up on the receiving end of rough treatment, a recurring running joke in the series, as the more hot-blooded angels effectively leave him battered as punishment for his insults.
His motivation is largely centered on his adoration of Vanilla and his role as a self-appointed assistant and commentator to the team. In practical terms, he functions as a mobile information and analysis unit, and with his immense processing power he is capable of examining data, offering assessments, and providing technical commentary during the troupe's missions. However, the series rarely puts his intellect to effective use, since the missions usually descend into comedy and his own behavior tends to undermine his usefulness. His sharp remarks and overconfidence mark him as a comic-relief figure who comments on the chaos around him rather than acting as a decisive hero or villain.
Regarding relationships, his bond with Vanilla is the most significant. He is completely smitten with her, and his unfailing praise of her contrasts sharply with his dismissive attitude toward everyone else, including Millefeuille, Ranpha, Mint, Forte, and the rest of the group. His relationship with the other angels is antagonistic in a playful sense, and their retaliation for his insults is a constant source of humor. The character experiences little personal growth over the course of the series, remaining largely the same sarcastic, devoted, and accident-prone presence throughout, serving as a consistent gag character rather than undergoing a dramatic arc.
In terms of abilities, Nômado possesses a ten-thousand-gigahertz central processing unit, making him a highly advanced artificial intelligence capable of rapid calculation and analysis. When removed from his stuffed body, his true form is revealed to be a transparent circuit board, showing that the plush exterior is merely a container for his actual hardware. Although his processing power is theoretically impressive, it is rarely showcased, and his defining traits remain his sharp tongue and his unwavering worship of Vanilla.
