Description
Hatsumi Kusunoki is a sixteen year old girl residing in the futuristic city of Neo-Acropolis. Her life is defined by her identity as an athletic tomboy. She has short, spiky blue hair and piercing green eyes, and she prefers to spend her time playing soccer with her friends rather than engaging in traditionally feminine activities. As a result of her rejection of femininity, Hatsumi holds the deep-seated belief that she cannot be beautiful. This core insecurity is the central conflict of her personal story.

Her motivations begin to shift when she is chosen to model for a painting or a magazine photoshoot by an artist and designer named Miyabi. This opportunity serves as a catalyst, forcing her to confront her own self-image and to reconsider her rigid views on femininity and beauty. Initially resistant, Hatsumi is an anthology character, meaning her episode, which is titled Hatsumi Kusunoki ~A Soaring Angel~, functions as a self-contained narrative rather than a long-running subplot. Her role in the larger ensemble is to explore themes of self-acceptance and the courage to embrace a different side of oneself.

Regarding her connections to other residents of Neo-Acropolis, Hatsumi is part of a loose web of relationships. It is known that she knows another girl in the city, Kasumi Kurenai, which places her within the social network of the eleven main characters. Throughout her episode, Hatsumi undergoes notable development. By agreeing to model, she steps outside her comfort zone and begins the process of accepting that athleticism and femininity are not mutually exclusive, and that beauty can be found in forms beyond her previous understanding. Her most notable abilities are derived from her athleticism and physical prowess, which distinguish her as the most sports-oriented among the group of heroines.
